Oftentimes people who doesn’t know me yet said that I am too much about the way I talk because I have a very high pitched voice that is often associated with doing baby talk. They say also that I am OA with the way I show too much excitement or joy about something or being overanalytic and overdramatic when it comes to life. But what most people would discover as they know me is that I am a very OPTIMISTIC and AMIABLE person and that is how I came up with my pseudo name.
Hi I am Maritoni a.k.a Miss OA :) I came from the beautiful island of Eastern Visayas, Samar and Leyte. Growing up on these gorgeous places I remember how raw my life was . The stories about the simplicity of life there speaks about how calm and clean it is to live there.
From the clean air that you can breathe straight from the rice field or from the beach, the delicacies my mother cooks when there is a fiesta , the tan skin that I got because of too much reconnecting with nature may it be a mountain climbing trip with my cousins or swimming at the beach as we eat the coconut meat or what we call “buko” my classmate got out of the tall coconut tree that was totally objected by my nanay because she was worried that something might happened.
I can also remember what we used to buy for our snack during high school days . One stick of “banana cue” or “camote cue” costs only five pesos same with one plastic of ice candy with different flavors like mango, fruit salad, chocolate, and buko pandan which is my favorite. Imagine how inexpensive it is to have our snacks before with no preservatives, indeed we are eating healthy foods unlike now that almost all the trendy snacks we can find in the market is a poison to our health.
Anyways, I just missed to remember so many memories there in my childhood place because after graduating high school I already left my beautiful hometown to face another venture of my life.
SO HOW DID I GOT HERE?
So back story of how and why did I got here. I was a graduate of Secondary Education and I was a licensed teacher as well . I used to teach junior high school and senior high school students . For four years that was my life and the hope and the eagerness in me to be part of the public education sector. But for some reason God had redirected me into a different path apart from what I always aim and pray. Teaching was fun and enjoying and fulfilling , there’s so much to learn especially that you are connecting and guiding young minds to be better people but I know I had to let go of this calling when my heart still keeps on looking for other things to do and to be passionate about.
THE PRESENT
Now, I am working in an office in Makati where I met my colleague who mentioned this platform to me while we are eating our lunch together at work . She mentioned that there is a platform like this where you can share whatever you wanted to share through writing and photos. In that moment my eyes went huge and I can’t resist my excitement and happiness for I am also fond of writing journals for myself. As a super shy person I think this was a big step up for me. So thank you @des13 and @cthings for introducing me to this platform.
THE TRANSITION PHASE
So again going back to my work, it was all of a sudden change of career. From being a teacher to an office girl who found a comfort in the new find job that she’s in and because of this, she has discovered so many things about herself that she thought would stay in her imagination only.
THE NEW ME ERA
Now that there’s less work to do because there’s only a fixed eight-hour work during weekdays and two days off during the weekends, I found freedom to do whatever I like to do during my free time and one of those is collecting photos, images or videos that I took in my cellphone. Making captions on it , putting some music that suits the mood of it and posting it on my social media. I don’t know, but I find it so enjoying to share a particular scenario or a funny photo or merely a happening that I’ve captured and putting my own meaning to it. For me it’s like an art , being creative using words and pictures.
BEING A TRAVEL ENTHUSIAST
One of my greatest interest right now is to travel to different places whenever I can . I have travelled already to some places but just a few and so that’s why I am really manifesting for more because now the new tagline of my life is to WORK WORK WORK then SAVE SAVE SAVE then INVEST INVEST INVEST then TRAVEL TRAVEL TRAVEL 🙂 Apart that I always see this in social media as people’s trend in their lives, I want it to experience for myself too, to experience something new , to try different activities , to taste different foods of the places I will go through and to experience their culture . I just wanted to know more about how life revolves on the other side 🙂

Since high school I am already a big fan of Taylor Swift. Play a song of her or name it and I will definitely sing it for you ! Just kidding , I just cannot contain myself not to listen to her songs in every album that she releases and I couldn’t resist myself to be updated about her love life and her life as a whole. I guess what they were saying is true. We grew up with her and with her music and that’s how we got the connection. Aside from her incredible music, I really admire her for her strength, her wits, her determination as a person. As my favorite quote from her says: (From her graduation speech at NYU)

“Decide what is yours to hold and let the rest go”
“Oftentimes, the good things in your life are lighter anyway so there’s more room for them”

I just love how she expresses her ideas and how she influence people in a good way. So yah ! That’s why she’s my favorite artist . Have you heard about her new album The tortured poets department ? I haven’t listened to it yet but for sure from the title itself it’s gonna be tough and hard and sad but I am so excited to hear it and have my impression on it soon!

So that’s it, those were some of the information, characteristics and interest I can share about myself and I can’t wait to share more about my experiences as an adult . I am so excited also to meet new people who has the same passion as mine. So I hope we can enjoy this journey together.
