I'm Back, Lot of New Faces, Let Me Introduce Myself Again

Hi! So, I'm newly back on Steemit and there are so many new people here that I thought I'd take this opportunity to reintroduce myself.

My name is Mark Morris and what you see is what you get. I'm a professional freelance and ghost writer that found steemit as a way to work on my fiction for a live audience. I get to share stories, get feedback, and occasionally take home some prizes.

I'm the father of eight, married 26 years now. I have three dogs, and there are two cats that live in my house, but don't really claim me as their master. I taught theater for almost twenty years, while simultaneously working as a carpenter, so my experience is pretty varied.

I've been self-employed in all of these ventures for over twenty years and I hope to never go back to punching a clock. I see Steemit as an awesome opportunity for people who want to get involved with crypto, or start publishing for a real audience. I've invited a lot of friends here and I'll continue to be an ambassador for the platform as it grows.

Where I've been

Over the past year, I've been in and out. Due to raising a family, my time is not really my own and when the bottom dropped out of the price of steem, I was forced to do other things for a while.

I posted a few things over the past year, but mostly, I've only been here, regularly for about a month, sharing my stories again. During that year, I've written three books for ghost writing clients, one of which is being picked up by Random House, which feels great!

What I'm doing here

In addition to fiction, I share self-help and empowerment stuff from time to time, including positive thinking. I also share tips I pick up around the platform. Right now, I'm upside down on that, since the rules seem to have changed.

Since coming back, I've shared a novel length comedy and I'm in the middle of sharing a suspense book, brand new, and a fantasy that I'm in the process of revamping. I serialize my work and love to have comments!

My philosophy about steemit

I'm here to build an audience, which to me, is all about community. So, expect to see me commenting and upvoting, with my own fingers. I'm not a big fan of bots, or autofollows, etc. I think we can do better. It's supposed to be a social network, so let's get social.

I love to teach, so if you see me do something, or think I might know how, ask! I'll share anything I know. I want to be the guy I needed when I first started writing and I'll do what I can to encourage and help.

I invite you to check out my work!

I know that some think fiction is a waste of space on the platform, but to me, the wider variety of content we can add, the better. I write mostly funny, fast paced, and sometimes a tad dark. I like to tell stories I feel like are worth telling, and I promise, I'll entertain you, if you give me a chance.

Right now, I'm working on a new story I'll be sharing soon, about a Flat Earther race to the edge of the earth, to prove their theory. Will it prove to be a globe, or flat? You'll have to read to see how I end. It.

So, come on over, get involved. Upvote, resteem, follow, and comment and I'll return the the favor. Thanks for reading my reintroduction.

Thanks guessing this will be useful to catch up I new changes.

Hi, @markrmorrisjr welcome back lol, I was so captivated when you say you are a freelance ghostwriter sounds creepy yet interesting. I love horror movies though so no big deal. =)

Ha, well, I do write some things that are slightly creepy, but ghost writing is what you call it when you write for another person, and they claim authorship credit. Most of the time when a celebrity "writes" a book,it's really them hiring someone like me to "ghost write" it. Hope that helps.

Welcome again Mark :-)

welcome back!

Thanks. good to be back

may be i reasteam your post sir because i liked in your all post sir

Welcome Back!

Hey! Welcome to Steemit! This community is amazing but does take some getting use to since it’s a bit different than the other social media platforms.
I joined Steemit December 30th, 2017 and have had a blast networking, learning and earning (actually made some pretty good money so far)!
I'd suggest signing up for these free applications for Steemit that gets you upvotes and followers. The first thing you need to do as a new user is to increase your STEEM POWER (SP), which increases your visibility and voting power. These were a huge help for me.

Can I delegate content creation to you? Welcome back and you got my follow! Keep steem'n on.

Lol, sure but you'll need to delegate your rewards as well.

I’ve been here only a few days.. lol but Welcome back! And I have to say congratulations on your Random House deal! That is awesome! I’ll be watching so I can read your Flat Earther race , writing! Thanks for the reintroduction!

Thanks and be sure to let me know if i can help I any way.

So, you are here again! Great! You're back! I like your creepy world... Hehehehe

Welcome back Mark :-)

I know that some think fiction is a waste of space on the platform

Well written fiction can affect reality than dozen of headline news.

Well, I do some of both, when I think it's called for, but I agree. The most powerful stories told by our greatest sages were always fiction.

once more, welcome to Steemit! :)

a warm welcome!... and as usual you get...
upvote and resteemed

I do okay. Thanks for the comment.

Hi Mark...welcome back. I don't think fiction is a waste of time on Steemit and I'm not sure why people think it would be but I think it can be undervalued if people don't see it! The balance is not right on here, unfortunately. However, I am the eternal optimist hoping it will change. :-) Have an upvote from a fellow writer :-)

Thanks, appreciate the upvote and the great comment.

Welcome back to Steemit, Mark. I did notice some posts from you recently, having missed your writings for some time. I used to read them back in the beginning days of Steemit. All the best, and I hope things go well for you here (I'm sure they will).

Welcome back!

LOL, thanks.

I have a strange question to ask...Did you previously publish a couple of books? About 20 years ago I read (I think) 2 books by an author with your name and I really loved them. I searched a few times for the books, but I never found them again.

I've published several but none that far back and as far as I know, I'm the only author whose ever published as Mark R. Morris Jr. I'd be interested to know what they were, though.

I got the books at one of those bargain shops, maybe they never made it mainstream. I'm pretty sure the author was Mark Morris, (no R or Jr), but after so many years I could be wrong :)

Could be, there are quite a few of us, one is a famous choreographer in Seattle, I think

Welcome back, Mark. It's great to have experienced fiction writers around. Some people may not appreciate fiction here, although I can't imagine why, but I'd say it is underrepresented on the platform. I've followed you and will take a look at some of your posts.

Thanks and I agree. From the beginning, some of the top authors here have shared fiction. I was consistently in the top thirty for several months in summer and fall of 2016. What a fun ride.

Welcomee again, i’m one of those new faces on steemit. Wow i’m shocked by how many kids you have (it’s a blessing) and i am also interested in your time as an “actor” if you like calling it like that. I love acting and i’m definitely leaving my vote!

Yes, I'm definitely an actor, although probably more of a director after all the years of doing it. We had the kids one at a time, so it doesn't seem so overwhelming that way, HA! But, I was also the oldest of seven, so I knew what I was getting into. They are amazing human beings, getting out into the world and making it a better place.
