The strong willed Neophyte enters Hive- An Introduction!

in #introduceyourself2 years ago

Wonderful Day, Hivers! I am from the Pearl of the Orient Seas (the Spanish word "Perla del Mar de Oriente" by a Spanish Jesuit Missionary, Father Juan J. Delgado), the Philippines. My friends use to call me "Melit". I am 43 years old with three kids, A self-motivated, full-time public school teacher, and a part-time ESL teacher in the evening. During weekends, I always make room for my passion for sewing and going to the beach with my kids.

I am so delighted to be part of this platform and be able to share all the stuff about myself and my passions in life. I do believe in the adage "Strike while the iron is hot"-Sir Walter Scott. Opportunity and luck do not knock on our doorsteps all the time. So, if chances and opportunities come, grab them and act promptly while it is still there.

More about me!

My Hobbies

During my younger years, I used to dismantle old clothing and assemble it as a dress for my dolls and toys. It has become my passion now! On weekends I sew school uniforms and other stuff related to sewing.

I feel so happy and satisfied after accomplishing something. It is also one of my sources of income, especially during the pandemic, I supplied facemasks to the community and other barangays which sold like hotcakes during that time.

In our school, I coached and trained talented students to be one of the contestants in Technolympics 2018, and with God's grace and guidance, they were able to bring home the bacon.

One of my biggest victories in Sewing : First place in the Technolympics 2018, in Dressmaking Corporate Attire

My Experiences

As a wife and mother
Love conquers all as the title of the song goes. My mother was against the idea of my marrying at the age of 22 since I was still studying at that time but because of my stubbornness and hard-headedness, I decided against the will of my parents. I got married which is full of hopes and aspirations that everything will end up well. To cut the story short, I got my karma when my husband had an affair with another woman. I did realize that a mother knows best.

Married life was not a bed of roses after all which I always believe it would be instead it is a bed full of thorns and spikes. It was then that I thought, it would be the end of my marriage. However, I need to make some decisions not as a wife but as a mother of three. I was caught up in a very difficult situation and I did not have any choice but to forgive him and become a martyr again.

It was quite a while since I noticed that my prayers were answered. He is slowly changing; he has been more responsible in dealing with family matters. Maybe he had come to the point of realizing that family is the most important treasure he has.

My life as a daughter

Being the only child of the family is not as lucky as others thought it would be. I do not consider myself lucky to be the only child in the family, especially since I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I used to depend on my mother for everything. As a result, I became crippled when she was confined in the hospital after experiencing the fury of the storm "Yolanda". At first, it was just a fever but then out of the blue, she was diagnosed with intussusception- a serious condition in which part of the intestine slides into an adjacent part of the intestine.

I encouraged her to undergo a major operation hoping that it was the best thing to do. Despite the struggle of keeping my mama alive. I eventually lost her after a month in the hospital. It was the most agonizing and traumatic experience I ever had. It took me so long to rebuild the shattered pieces within me. I was very depressed and full of regretful sentiments knowing that I was not a good daughter to her. If I could turn back time, I would never do the things I have done. No matter how hard I cried. I cannot do anything but live with the pain and continue with my life and be living proof of my mother's immeasurable goodness.

This is the last birthday celebration she ever had, taken last September 16, 2003, and she died on Dec. 3, 2003.

I take this opportunity to share my personal experience as an eye-opener to sons and daughters out there, we can change partners as many times as we wish to but the people who brought us to this world, our parents, are irreplaceable.

Why am I here?

I never thought I could be part of this platform; I am internally grateful to the ever-friendly and amiable @callmesmile. She diligently inspired me not to waste time joining here. I consider being part of this platform as a rare opportunity that is hard to disregard and be taken for granted. This social media network could be the best channel to share some of my experiences and expertise in the field of teaching especially in the fashion world. It is also my greatest dream to introduce to the world the beauty of my beloved hometown.

Hesitant at first but after the orientation, I got the courage to squeeze out my brain and come up with this theatrical introduction. I may not be the best at writing, but I will make sure to entertain you all in my next blog. It is my great pleasure and honor for taking the time to read my intro blog. Thank you and I hope to see you soon.
