So, where have I been in the last year?

Well, my last posts in this platform were in March of last year. Pretty much talking about the MASSIVE 5 DAY BLACKOUT in my country, Venezuela.

Well, after a lot of thought in that moment, I decided in that moment to move out of the country to the nearest viable country choice: Brazil.

So, in April 30th, 2019, we crossed the southern border:

Tuesday, April 30, 2019, 6:00 a.m. That was the day and time that I left Venezuela behind. This photo is just 10 meters from the border line between Pacaraima and Santa Elena de Uairén. We crossed it on foot through a farm. A 30 minute walk.

For 4 days I was in the process of temporary residence, Tax Registry, Federal Police and other requirements to regularize my immigration status. In case they ask why go to Brazil, this is one of the reasons. In less than a week you can be fully legal in the country. The role of the UN and the consent of the Brazilian government has been vital in all this. As you can see in the photos, every day there were more than 500 Venezuelans per day, in Pacaraima as well as in Boa Vista doing these procedures. And they are more and more. You don't realize the magnitude of the problem until you see it in person.

After that, I landed in the city of São Carlos, state of São Paulo. I lived there for 5 months. It was an OK city, the problem was that it was hard to find a job over there. I had a few gigs teaching English and Spanish, but that wasn't enough to afford all our expenses there, so we moved to another city.

São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil

So, I've been living here in Campo Mourão, State of Paraná, since October of last year. Just two weeks after I landed here I got a job in a Construction Blocks factory, and since January i'm working in a metallurgical, as a CNC operator.

This city is pretty good to start again, if you ask me. It's good to be pretty away from all the mess that my country is in this moment. Although I miss the family I left behind, and some important moments that happened in the last year, I have no regrets about making this decision.

Man, barbecues here are SICK

As I share what happened to me, I also want to say that I want to achknowledge the big step that the community and witnesses made to join the HIVE blockchain. I gained some encouragement to start posting again here.

It sounds like everyone deserves a new and exciting start!
