Hi Steemit! After hearing so many wonderful things, I'm excited to join this community!
Let me introduce myself. My name is Mara - I am 23 years old, a graduate of American University in Washington, DC ... and kind of floundering. Not in a horrible, hopeless way, but in a wow life can go in so many directions how do I make sense of it kind of way.
For as long as I can remember, I best expressed myself through writing. As a rather introverted, introspective, overthinker, writing helps me to collect, organize, and process my thoughts. If I'm stranded on a desert island, you better believe I have a notebook and pen (and a backup pen just in case).
So this Steemit space is going to be home to many things - as if the chatter in my head spilled out onto the screen. I want to write about my passion for travel and fashion. I also want to touch on some more challenging topics, the inevitable nitty gritty of life.
In my 23 years, I've experienced some crazy highs and some crazy lows. I've experienced love, loss and everything in between. Growing up in a family with stiff upper lips, I used to take comfort, if not pride, in my grin and bear it mentality. Recently, however, I made a conscious effort to open up to life - the disappointment, failures, opportunities, risks, successes.
I want to share this human experience, my human experience, with you. For comfort, for growth, for fun. I look forward to sharing with you, connecting with you, and growing with you.
