A Tale of Passion, Growth, and Pursuit of Dreams: My Self Introduction

Every man has his own story to tell, And what he is today is the result of his yesterday. Every person has his path to take. Not all are blessed to take a smooth straight path, others take a small narrow road which he needs to cultivate.

A Glimpse of My Life

Hello, my fellow readers, I am Mr. Experienciado welcoming you to take a glimpse of my life. I am now 30 years old and an educator in a public school here in the Philippines. The path I take is not as smooth and straight as you may imagine. I grew up with my grandmother’s nurture since my father died when I was around 2 years of age and a year later, my mother left me and my siblings with my grandmother. Life is not easy without a mother and a father. I need to strive hard to survive. Learn to cultivate land on the farm at an early age, need to manage time properly between school and work.

During those elementary years, jealousy in my heart grow bigger and bigger as I saw my classmates who have full support from parents, every school year they are having new bags, shoes, notebooks, pens and crayons, and uniforms, while me, just still wearing my old uniform, notebooks being recycled, broken crayons, old pens, and old bags which you cannot be sure to handle the weight of the books and notebooks inside. Sometimes it comes to my mind how grateful the child’s life is with complete parental support. But even with those difficulties, I still strive hard since I have a goal in life. Instead of discouragement with the harps of life, I made it a positive part which made me more focused on committing to what I want in the future, and that is to escape the struggles and poverty. I still graduated in elementary and high school bringing the beacon which should be the pride of my parents if they still are here by my side.

That was me and my classmates when I studied Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Norzagaray College.

I went to Manila after my high school years to continue my studies. I became a scholar in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in a newly founded college in Bulacan. I studied there for 2 and a half years since I also passed the Philippine National Police Academy Examination. Taking all the examinations there is not easy. First, the Entrance Examination, then the Neuropsychiatric Examination, and lastly the Physical and Medical Examination. It was of great experience having passed the different tests, but suddenly got stuck with my dental examination. The Dentist told me to extract my 8 wisdom teeth, 2 teeth on each side, upper and lower. So, my excitement got lost. I did not follow the dentist's recommendation.

At my half-sister's house in Manila

I am disappointed in what happened to me and I stop studying Nursing in the Second semester of my second year in college. At that time, I think of going back to my grown land where I can take good care of my auntie who nurtured me and my siblings since she is unmarried because she has cancer in the bone at that time. I took good care of her for almost 8 months of suffering from the disease, and while I took good care of her, I do farming and cultivated our farmland to support our daily living.

After 8 months of fighting the cancer, she passed away. I thought that time about what to do in my life and with my future. I want to have a job and I applied as a Sales clerk at Gaisano Merchandising Incorporated. I worked there for six months and with the help of my older brother, I got enrolled at Cebu Normal University- Medellin Campus with a Degree program of Bachelor in Secondary Education - Major in English. I never thought that this new road that I take could lead me to what I am now.

While schooling, I experienced the uphills and downhills, where it takes me to the point that I never ate lunch because of a lack of budget. It also gives me time to take almost a vacation leave of study since I need to work as a construction worker, just a laborer in building a house. I need to work hard to support my studies. I applied actually as a scholar of our Congressman in the Fourth District and with God's help, I became a scholar. It allows me to go through until my fourth year of college. I never expect that I could finish my degree program since there is a lack of support in my studies. As other's motto, " strive hard for the success of bitterness is sweet".

After I graduated, I submitted a job application to a different company just to have a job, but sad to say, it is really hard to get a job because competition takes place in a job application. So while waiting for me to be hired, I take driving a public tricycle to earn support for my Board Examination Application. I just want to test my luck so I have to take the Licensure Examination for teachers without a review. I still remember those days when we went home from the application of board examination when we got into an accident. My motorcycle was crushed on the slippery road along the highway with my back rider who is my best friend. It was so a bad experience that I had.

As months go by, I never expect to pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers, but one time when one of my friends texted me with congratulations, I got excited as she sends me the screenshot of the board passers of the October 2017 Licensure Examination results posted via the website of the Philippines Regulation Commission. Yes!! I did it!! I passed! The fruit of my sacrifices is already at hand.

That was me and my class during the Teachers' Day celebration

In that following year, I applied for a Public School Teacher. I try again my luck! It was hard for me as an applicant in the Public School since I have no experience in the field of teaching. Seven months later, I got a notice to prepare and submit all the requirements necessary for the Teacher 1 position. Yes! I got hired! What luck! I am now a Professional Public School Teacher. I teach Secondary Education. Then I realized that, yeah! Teaching is my vocation. This is God's call, so I need to nourish this. I am now in my fifth year of teaching.

Know My Hobbies

Oh! By the way, I do have different hobbies, I do love teaching since it is my profession. Maybe I do have talent, but yet not been discovered. But I do believe that skill honed with passion and proper cultivation could become your talent.

Reading Books

One of my hobbies is reading. I love reading Books, Novels, Almanac, Reader's Digest, Encyclopedias, and Magazines. I do love reading Comics. Some will say that reading is a way of learning, and I agree with it. Even with a short article, it gives some important information.

Writing

I also love writing, such as writing short stories, and poems. Writing literary pieces is my best way of expressing my emotions.

Watching Movies

I also love watching anime movies. The themes and lessons are very visible. I think that it will teach us also valuable life lessons. Some anime that I love to watch the most were One Piece, Battle Through the Heavens, Secen Deadly Sins, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Baki, and Hero Academia.

Motorcycle Riding

I also love motorcycle riding. I am also a member of a Riding Community Group. I love going to places especially places with different beautiful scenery. I love going on an adventure by riding a motorcycle. I bought my motorcycle right after I received my salary. Until now, this is the motorcycle used in transportation together with my family. Riding a motorcycle is also my best way to feel fresh air, and seems to relieve my stress because it is also a very common issue that the teaching profession is a very stressful job. I also love machines and machinery. I love to dismantle and repair engines.

Cooking

I also love cooking, since I love to eat delicious food, I also learn to love cooking. It is the best way to cook the food you love and to manage your finances. We all know that if we buy food in restaurants and food chains, it is very costly, so it is better to cook food on your own so you can ensure the quality of the ingredients and food you have.
