Hey there! My name is Nicole Perdue and I'm still fairly new to computer navigating and even though I've been reading the helpful tips, can't figure out how to add pics in just yet lol.
I'll be turning the big 40 this year, but excited about all the possibilities 2018 could bring. I have a wonderful boyfriend, Joey; we just celebrated our fourth anniversary last month and still going strong. We dream of owning land somewhere someday and building an Earthship, trying to maintain a garden (I'll be looking to @lyndsaybowes for lots of tips!) and maybe a little farm? I also take a lot of inspiration from @wwf for going off grid, homesteading, and just overall generally great advice; he's written several books and holds workshops often, though I've yet to go (something I attain to <3).
My social media experience is still rather limited, I'm only on Facebook (262 strong) and now here. To me, I don't care about the number of people as much as what we can gain and learn from each other. It's all about quality, not quantity.
What I hope to bring to the Steemit community is love, compassion, laughter, and my personal experiences with grief and loss. I say that because in my life, I've become painfully aware of how awkward and quiet many people still get around these topics. Over half my life has involved death or loss of some kind, including loss of jobs, homes, friends, even pets. My greatest loss was when my mother passed away, very suddenly and unexpectedly, just 1 week after my 25th birthday. My deepest loss have been my nine miscarriages. NINE. No surviving children... I have no idea why, but infertility is still a seemingly taboo subject (right up there with death) and I hope to bring more awareness to people about the struggles some of us are forced to endure to start or have a family of our own.
I love music. 90's music pretty much lol.
* Nine Inch Nails
* The Smashing Pumpkins
* Marilyn Manson
* The Glitch Mob
* Florence + the Machine
* Pink Floyd
Some favorite movies include:
* The Crow
* American Beauty
* Fight Club
* The Princess Bride
* The Goonies
I'm excited to be here. I'm even more excited to go out and explore this new community, meet some new friends, read some amazing blogs and articles, and learn from fellow steemers <3. Much love to everyone, I can't wait to see what tomorrow may bring us. ALL of us!!!
Welcome!
For photos, in a post you can click right under the text box, I think it says "select them," and upload from your computer; or you can drag and drop (so I'm told; my only internet is a Kindle so I can't do it that way), or you can c&p the link from it elsewhere on the internet. So say you have posted a photo on Facebook, you can then open it full size in your browser (not the post, just the photo part), then copy the URL and put that in your Steemit post text box. That copy-paste is how you can put a photo in comments, as well. Like so:
Thank you!!! That was one of the first tips I read, but still couldn't quite get what they meant. Still trying lol
G'day sis all the way from Australia. You already know me from Fakebook but here you get to see my face. I'm also only new here and still struggling to navigate the new system but I'll
Be putting in all the poetry I've written over the last few years here as well as some more indepth articles I like to write but don't waste my time giving them
To Fakebook. Welcome aboard
You too, Tony!! Nice to know a few friendly faces already, makes it a little easier for me at least lol. Good luck to you as we explore this whole new world!
It's alw good to have a family feel when we are online. Gets pretty lonely without one 💪❤️=✌️
Welcome, Nicole! I'm so glad you hung in there throughout life's tests. You made the right decision to join Steemit. I had an opportunity to join in Spring 2016 and passed it up thinking it was too good to be true. I got tapped again in July 2017 and this time I dived right in.
This has reawakened my passion for writing, more than anything else has. You're going to love it here! :) Bonus: You may even get a "Pumpkins" reunion in 2018!
Original members?! Cuz I hate to say it, but the new stuff doesn't sound the same without Darcy and James to me. I got to see them for Mellon Collie in 1996, and Garbage opened for them. It was one of the best concerts I've been to (but no one can top Trent Reznor :-) )
And thank you!!
Yes, that's whats floating around. Billy hinted at it last year, though I'll believe it when I see it. Fingers Crossed! :)
