Hi, we're Adam and Taryn, a young couple who live completely off the grid in the high desert mountains of southern Arizona. For several years, we ran a food blog, which we sold last year to achieve our off-grid dream. Now, we have a new blog, www.offgridtiny.house, and a video series called Moving Off the Grid.

Last week, we noticed a few links pointing to our site from Steemit.com. We were curious about this mysterious website that was linking to our content, so we decided to investigate... After spending a few minutes poking around the site, we wondered: How did we not know about this?!!! So, we quickly signed up, and the rest will soon be history.

We got into blogging many years ago while traveling around the US in search of the perfect city to call home. It was during this time that we realized we don't actually like living in cities. We lived in big cities, like Tampa, Portland, and Austin; and even a tiny city called Bisbee. Wonderful places to visit, for sure, but living in a hustling and bustling place, constantly surrounded by others, just wasn't for us.

It was during our time in Bisbee, however, that we fell in love with southern Arizona. The landscape is beautiful, the history and culture are rich, and many of the people are... well, eccentric.

After revisiting some of the other places we lived, and spending about a year thinking it over, we finally decided to buy a large piece of vacant land roughly 10 miles from the US/Mexican border, which is now where we spend all of our time perfecting our off-grid homestead.

At the moment, we live in a 12x24 tiny house that we had delivered to our property. It's far from luxurious but we like it a whole more than any of the "luxury" apartments we were living in before.

We're excited to be here on Steemit, and we look forward to sharing much more with you in the future!

Cheers,
Adam & Taryn

Thanks ewasteguy1!

Welcome to Steemit.
A major system change is about to be deployed today so there might be issues within the next hours.
The landscape looks like old Indian territory, just without buffalos and horses.

Edit: I justed checked your blog but did not find a comment section there. Nice list of regrowing plants. In Germany we use to produce sprouts also from grain like wheat, rye, barley, spelt also. Maybe you heard about wheatgrass juice too? Also, peas can produce sprouts and chick peas can too, just like beans. I'm not completely sure about lentils. And what applies to pumpkins should apply to zucchini and cucumber too.
Other plants I miss on your list but love to eat now and then: egg plants (might work like ananas?), cauliflower/broccoli/turnip cabbage (might work like plain cabbage resp. carrots), onions (work like garlic, placing them in a spot which gets some sunlight during the day helps them to get green on the inside within up to 10 days), pears (work like apples), raisins (might grow from the seeds or a branch of a grown plant), radish (probably works like carrots or potatoes as it often comes with remainders of roots), horseradish (can be grown from the rhizom you buy just like ginger and is said to grow extensively in given soil!), sunflower (seeds), peanuts, corn, some herbs (thyme, rosemary, oregano, parsley, dill, chives), mustard. Sugar beets and beet root might be handy too.
Thus, it's rather 50-60 plants than 35. :)

Hi, thanks! Indeed, the landscape is old native American territory. We find lots of pottery sherds and artifacts. Had to disable comments on the blog due to all the Wordpress spam.

Had to disable comments on the blog due to all the Wordpress spam.

That's a pity - I was intending to open a (new) Wordpress blog for myself to be able to get comments from Non-Steemians too.

A warm welcome from me!
Wish u all the best,
Think wisely,before u post,it matters!
Be yourself, dont be ashamed about anything, show your true self, and everything will be as u want!
Good luck, and will see u around!
Cheers!

Welcome to Steemit offgridtinyhouse. Let me know if you got any questions about Steem or anything related to it! The official FAQ can be found here and has A LOT of information https://steemit.com/faq.html - Also remember, Steemit is just ONE of the sites built that uses Steem the blockchain. Hi janne, thanks for the info! We'll check those out.

So jealous of your off the grid lifestyle! Welcome to steem!

Hi @offgridtinyhouse, welcome to Steemit!

Once a week (or so) I select a post with the #introduceyourself tag and make a post about their introduction. IANS (introduce a new Steemian) is a initiative by @gmuxx and since I loved the idea, I continued doing so. It is hard enough to start here on Steemit, so I hope it will help you to generate a few more followers and first payout. The liquid Steem on the post I made will be transferred to you after payout and your post has been upvoted and resteemed by me. I hope to read more from you soon!

Welcome the new steemians. Have a great day!

Welcome! Glad you joined. I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos on primitive living of late (using fire plough or similar techniques to start fires, firing pottery in a dug-out kilns, building huts/dwellings out of primitive materials, making charcoal, etc.).

Had a blast reading some of the articles on your site, glad you're enjoying your life, and I look forward to more content!

Thank you so much! We've got a lot more content in the pipeline, including a design for a rocket stove we've been using for most of our cooking. Cheers!

OK Great Blog!
I want to see the electrical system, or at least how you do without LOL!!!
I am a professional Electrician and I am working on an off grid system myself.
Most of us rely too heavily on utilities, IMO.
Great to meet you!
