"What's this? What's this? This is something new!!!" That line from one of my favorite movies of all time, The Nightmare Before Christmas, has been stuck in my head for the past two weeks! This has been fire-hose education at it's finest! Two weeks ago I started really looking into crypto-currencies and that led to blockchain and that led to a wide range of uses both implemented and potential and that led to steemit and that led to gig economy opportunities and that led to....well, the list just keeps going and going. Sadly though I don't have a lot of people in my life that want to geek out on this stuff as much as I do right now. That's ok though, I have a lot of work to do and I'm sure the folks in my life will come around as they see these concepts develop in ways that they can relate to in their lives. For me I am really interested in beginning to work and do the things I normally do anyway on a platform that is more equitable to the user and creator community than the standard business model of social media.
Wait, wasn't this supposed to be an introduction post or something? I guess I should get to that part huh? I am a student veteran at Lewis University in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Three things about that: Lewis University is Located in Romeoville, Illinois, there is a remote site in New Mexico....New Mexico isn't new....and New Mexico isn't in Mexico. I have a passion for helping people and these days I am helping other U.S. Military Veterans transition to student life and cultivating opportunities for those veterans as they graduate college. While at the same time working on succeeding at college myself! I'm very excited to be part of this community and look forward to seeing what other people have to say as I continue my education by fire-hose!
I suppose the first order of business would be to set up that profile stuff and then poke around and see what I can find in the community. I guess I also really need to see how steemit is organized, seems a little chaotic to me right now. I suppose I will get used to it soon enough. Also, I recall reading something about a blockchain based video sharing platform that is kinda like youtube. I'll have to go looking for that, right after I do my homework.
