I initially deemed 2018 the year of my rebirth, but I realized it was another year I improved. There is a difference. The concept of a "new you" appears outdated. The thought of burning the past, forgetting it to create out of ashes a new you seems to deviate from a core principle. That in the past lie keys in understanding the present gateways to better navigate the path to the future. This is continuous. That a concept of an "improved you" instead was able to face truths that the concept of a new you could not.
By the time I was 18 I had moved 12 times. Pressing the restart button was muscle memory. But the Model of Restarting does not work well with the lives that are continuous. It begins, runs course, and then restarts... but what about us? Us that do not restart, but continuously live on? The Model of Improvement where you are not restarting anew, but built upon does work. It doesn't break the link between past, present, and future. It is a mental model that better accepts failures and imperfections.
I threw away past journals because I was unhappy about the things I wrote. But now I understand the reflections of my thoughts at that moment in time is a part of growth as time passes. I will post to leave a stance that can develop over time and be affected by other users in the community. I intend to post about my thoughts to evoke, things I learn to help, actions I take to encourage, and pains to relate, all to grasp a better self. An improved me... and in the process hopefully an improved you.
