"Show me your friend and I'll tell you who you are."
Just one problem with that quote!
We're not friends, we're family.
Hello Steemians.
This is the official Poetic Nest steemit account. And here's our introductory post.
Who We Are.
The Poetic Nest is a group of young individuals sited on the campus grounds of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Basically, as the name implies, we're a collection of poets but on a much broader scale, we're accommodating of EVERY and ALL art forms...from poetry to short stories to music to rap to paintings to drawing...every art of creativity.
How We Started.
The idea that led to the birth of the family was conceived in the mind of a young (then student, now graduate) Anatomist in the second/third year of his education. Andrew Otatane-oso (2'WYTH) ( https://www.facebook.com/otataneoso.andrew) always did have this intense passion for art and writing, so much that it reflected (positively and almost negatively) in his personal life and education. He self-taught himself the rudiments of writing a good poem via reading books and taking notes, even willing to teach others the art. Spoken Words naturally came with this tempting seduction that his pen couldn't resist but bend to unspoken will speaking in his mind. Soon he gained himself the recognition of the very first Spoken Word Artistic Poet (S.W.A.P) in the University Community performing Spoken Words at churches, social nights and private shows.
In his forbearance, he saw it right to impart the knowledge of creative writing and stage performance to willing students that can proudly call themselves his progeny. In the course of doing this, he met this Light that made a Mark that no other student made.
Light Mark (https://m.facebook.com/proudlylight) learnt so well the art that he was closer to Andrew than expected. And with enlightened help from Light, Andrew began to seek lovers of literal art to convey with them and together they birth the Poetic Nest... and then the rest is history😁
Poetic Nest and Steemit.
So when we heard of steemit from one of our own (@godwine) and the possibilities that could be accomplished if we became part of the community, we felt honoured at the thought of having to be part of the biggest "Blog of blogs" where we'll have a platform to showcase our literary art to gladden literal heart. We hope to connect to the literary and literal world by our collection of words, learn as much as we can and contribute our own quota to the inexhaustible knowledge of Knowledge.
So, if you're in the city of Uyo, and you wish to visit us, do feel free to follow us here and on our social media platforms (Facebook link is in our bio) and let's connect.
We'd love to hear from you😁
