Wanderer from Himalayas just arrived on Steemit!!!

I'm Yashas, I quit my corporate job to follow my passion of travel round the world on my motorbike. I'm a wanderer, motorbike tourer, travel blogger and an adventurer. Just when I was in process of building a strong base for my travel start up steemit came as a pleasant coincidence.

The concept which rewards the quality content based on merit is exciting. I've arrived with my first introduction post where I present myself to the community of such amazing people.

Born and brought up in a typical Indian middle class family my exposure to the world was very limited. I completed my engineering course from one of the top most institutions of India, and then ended up with a nice paying job in the corporate sector. Just 6 months into the job, something very beautiful happened to me, Travel!!!

I started traveling along the length and breadth of my country, to know more about the rich culture and tradition India has which binds us all together. My understanding of life slowly changed and my priorities changed as well. I was no longer inclined to be a money making machine. My aim was to make a satisfactory life out of every situation that comes along my way.

Himalayas brought peace and stability in life

2013 was a life changing year for me; I started traveling from the southernmost tip of India all the way till the northern most tip. It was a solo ride on my motorbike. 23 day solo ride covering 7500Kms along the length and breadth of my country made me realize my ability as a person to face this life alone under extreme conditions. This was the time I started contemplating the idea of quitting the corporate job and pursue my plans of traveling.
Life on the Himalayas is simple calm and peaceful, it never allows a human being to think beyond his necessities. We tend to forget luxuries and we start embracing happiness in life. I started visiting Himalayas every year

My biking adventures include

2014: Successfully completed a international motorbike ride on the Himalayas across 3 countries. 5500kms of Himalayan Terrain involved crossing of over 8 international borders. Life threatening challenges only made life exciting

2014: Visited a sensitive war torn country Afghanistan only to see a whole new face of Humanity. I was changed as an individual for better. I started breaking stereotypes and I was evolving as a traveler learning to accept culture without judging it.

2015: Completed solo biking across Northern Thailand loops. Mae Hong Son and Golden triangle loops exploring the actual Thai culture and tradition.

2017: Led an expedition of 13 bikers to Himalayas for the second time across Himalayan countries Nepal and Bhutan.

I have evolved from being a solo rider to an organizer through whom people started living their dreams. I have that satisfaction and will continue to be a reason for dreams fulfillment.

I’m a good narrator!!!

You will see me talk on various issues ranging from the majestic Himalayan Mountains to adventure biking across various countries to lessons of humanity to crypto currency to geo political issues to music. If there is something interesting I come across I talk about it.
Trust me I'm a good story teller.
I will try my best to paint the reality without any exaggeration.

Why should you follow my posts??

Every ordinary life has an extraordinary story. I'm an ordinary common man with extraordinary ambitions in life. I always come up with my unique way of looking at life only to get the best out of it. You see my breaking stereoptypes and breaking barriers to see the world as one community.

This is a wonderful place to be...highly rewarding when you participate reciprocatedly. In steemit, it is all about mutuality and that's the major determinant of how successful you get. In simple terms, when people follow and upvote you; RECIPROCATE! Other recipes for success here are:

  • resteem, follow and upvote good posts to encourage the authors,
  • don't feel too big to encourage newbies by upvoting them and helping them to get going,
  • don't down vote people's post unfairly,
  • post educationally engaging contents so as to get followers and widen your horizon of influence,
  • Home wasn't built in a day...be patient and build your community.
Looking forwards to more engaging posts from you.

Welcome to Steemit ~ Officially now @rideofpassion

LOVED reading about your break from the Corporate world ~ Into one where you can chose your own values.

Following you to see how your future travels unravel now.

@allinspirit - Thank you for taking some precious time out of your life to go through my intro, I am happy to hear about you liking my story. Yes the journey has just begun you will see me post about my travels and speak on various others issues. Hopefully I see you along this journey and grow together :)

I met a girl in a hostel in Novi Sad who had been riding her bike since Malaysia, I think it was, all the way across to europe. I love motorcycles :)

@l0k1 We have an another interest mutually accepted, hope u like this intro.... n yes if u happen to come to india do reach, lets ride togther... :)

Absolutely. I used to own the 50cc version of this bike:

I want to get one again some day soon, and customise the hell out of it. Spoked wheels to reduce rotational inertia, enduro tyres for semi-offroad capability, a fully custom seat, extended petrol tank, panniers, top box, bright LED lamps, and the most important modification, a bored out YX160 engine with 180ml capacity.

Pretty sweet, no?

@lok1 - Thats one unique machine to me, never seen a bike like that... based on ur description it must be pleasure to ride one .... n u r bringing out lots of interest from within like offroading which only a true biker will understand... with the bored out engine u get that speed for an offroader...amazing... hopefully u get ti soon... really soon... n I get to ride it as well :)

The factory installed seat is a bit weird, and the centre of balance of this bike is a little far to the back, but that also makes it very agile. I am looking forward to one day having the souped up modified version like I described. I bet you can do some pretty cool tricks on it. It's not a dirt bike, but I would think this thing would let you disappear into the urban landscape and ride over shit that even fancy road/trail bikes like cops use, mainly because the stock weight of this bike is about 85kg. My old 50cc, which the police repeatedly stole from me, and eventually I let go because they expected me to pay more money than it was worth.

I forgot to mention, the tank built into the main tube from engine to triple tree, stores 5L, and the 50cc version I typically could ride about 210km before refilling. I was riding to and from my sister's place 100km from where I lived back then. I wish I'd just stayed out in the country where the cops didn't care about my 'custom plates' and lack of registration.

Hell yeah, I do intend to do some trekking on one when I get it, someday. I love being on the main, biggest continent in the world. I can go almost anywhere except islands and the Americas.

@l0k1 - wow, thats one incredible love for your motorcycle that I can see. riding a 50cc bike covering 100kms is like crazy and I too wish u had lived outside city... where freedom dominates modernization... n rules are written to enhance happiness and not curtail it... road trip with your beloved bike is the best gift u can give urself.. dont miss that in life....Sorry for missing out on replying to the comment.. :)

It is a good reminder to me, and indeed though I have shelved this dream because of economic reasons, sooner or later I'm gonna have the money, and nothing more important for me to do with it.

This, for anyone reading, relating to the anti-self-voting (comments) campaign, an example of deep engagement between two users and this is why I upvoted with 100% on this comment.
