I'm Rodrigo Vicente, I live in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil. I'm an entrepreneur and I have a clothing company that I started up again recently. We supply wholesale and retail, manufacture uniforms and customized garments for various sectors. And our own retail and wholesale products are an area that I really enjoy and have great appreciation for. It was there that I discovered entrepreneurship and what I really wanted to do in life: design and build ideas and businesses, from mind and paper to reality.
During my childhood and youth, I was never like most young people, who, for the most part, wanted to be “doctors, lawyers, policemen, firemen or go to some college to find out for themselves” (I don't see anything wrong with that).
But I didn't fit in at all. I felt out of place and a bit lost in this world, not knowing what I wanted to be when I “grew up”. I was very agitated as a child and teenager, I couldn't sit still for long in a classroom or in the same place (today, you might say I have ADHD), but at the time, they used other very different and heavy adjectives, if you know what I mean lol. All this brought me a lot of problems at the time, many of them internal. However, on the other hand, I've always been very easy to learn and I've always been very good with numbers. So, from a very young age, I learned to sell. We sold fruit that we picked up in the fields, on the side of the road; we bought, sold and exchanged products with neighbors, the famous “fazer rolo”, as we say here in Minas Gerais. I've been doing this since I was about 10 years old. I've always enjoyed solving problems and learning new things. A day without learning something is a day lost.
I grew up in a small town, with less than a thousand inhabitants, and I never saw myself spending my life there. Although I liked it, it was never my place. As soon as I came of age, a week or so later, I left and went to live in Rio de Janeiro, at the invitation of a childhood friend. It was a totally different reality to the one I was living in, in a tiny place, but because I was very easy to learn and adapt to, I had no problems. In just a few days, I learned how to manage in that huge city, how to go to work on my own and how to build a new reality. I had incredible experiences that made me mature a lot in that place.
A while later, I decided to return to my home state of Minas Gerais for personal reasons, to live in Juiz de Fora. It was the beginning of another stage. I came with all my heart and soul, but this was where I wanted to live. I soon adapted and started working in sales and as an administrative assistant in a company, as well as selling various products in my spare time. That was the start of a new great cycle in my life.
A while later, my childhood best friend, the same one who invited me to join Hive, @michupa, called me to join a business that he and a friend were starting in the clothing industry at the time. And, as I've always liked new challenges, I accepted on the spot.
This photo is from when we started in 2015. After a while, for various reasons, I left the company and everyone went their separate ways. After a while, we had another experience in the area. These were phases of a lot of learning and where I discovered myself and understood what I wanted to do with my professional life. It was a major turning point in my life. I learned a lot about people management, production, administration and my main area: sales and purchasing.
It's incredible to take a piece of cloth and turn it into any shirt design, with any print you want, among other clothing designs that we also make. After a few years, I decided to start again in the sector, this time with a different overall vision and much more mature!
Today, looking at the past, present and future, I see how much processes shape us. Nearing three decades in this world and being a totally different person than I once was, I reflect on how sometimes we need to “lose ourselves in order to really find ourselves” in our true essence. We have learned that the desert is a place of passage and not a place to live. Life is an incredible experience for those who learn to be excellent drivers.
Today I am also the father of an incredible little princess called Maju, the best gift I have ever received in my life. Another experience that has shaped me and teaches me a lot every day. Parenthood is something surreal, even more so for me, who was brought up by a single mother, who had to carry all the responsibility herself, and did so very well. She taught me in practice what it means to be strong and keep going, regardless of the circumstances, and not to become a weak victimizer who always finds someone to blame. Fatherhood is something that shapes a man's character and direction in a way that few things in this life can.
We love animals. We have a dog, Fred, a cockatiel called Aldair and a Betta fish called Menina. Maju chose the names of the cockatiel and the Betta lol...
I've always loved practicing sports and being in contact with nature. Running, cycling, weightlifting and so on. Going into the middle of the woods, wandering around aimlessly, breathing in that fresh air, is an experience I always enjoy. Moments of peace, listening only to the sound of the wind, the animals, the birds and contemplating the natural painting made by the Creator.
It's one of the things I love most: connecting with nature, walking through it, feeling the fresh air and realizing that simple things often make the most sense. Although I'm a very ambitious man and want a lot out of life, it's precisely the simple things that are priceless (like nature) that bring me the most pleasure.

Porém, eu não me encaixava em nada disso. Me sentia deslocado e meio perdido nesse mundo, sem saber o que queria ser quando “crescesse”. Era muito agitado quando criança e adolescente, não conseguia ficar muito tempo parado em uma sala de aula ou no mesmo lugar (hoje, talvez diriam que tenho TDAH), mas, na época, usavam outros adjetivos bem diferentes e pesados, se é que me entendem rs. Isso tudo me trouxe bastante problemas naquela época, muitos internos. Porém, em contrapartida, sempre tive muita facilidade de aprendizagem e sempre levei muito jeito com números. Com isso, desde bem novo, aprendi a vender. Vendíamos frutas que pegávamos na roça, na beira da estrada; comprávamos, vendíamos e trocávamos produtos com vizinhos, o famoso “fazer rolo”, como se fala aqui em Minas Gerais. Isso desde os 10 anos de idade, mais ou menos. Sempre gostei de resolver problemas que surgiam e de aprender coisas novas. Um dia sem aprender algo é um dia perdido.
Cresci numa cidade pequena, com menos de mil habitantes, e nunca me vi passando a vida lá. Apesar de gostar do lugar, nunca foi meu lugar. Logo ao completar a maioridade, uma semana depois, mais ou menos, saí de lá e fui morar no Rio de Janeiro, a convite de um grande amigo de infância. Era uma realidade totalmente diferente da que eu vivia, num lugar minúsculo, mas, por ter muita facilidade de aprender e me adaptar, não tive problemas. Em poucos dias, aprendi a me virar naquela cidade imensa, a ir para o trabalho sozinho e a construir uma nova realidade. Vivi experiências incríveis que me fizeram amadurecer muito naquele lugar.
Um tempo depois, resolvi voltar para meu estado de origem, Minas Gerais por questões pessoais, para morar em Juiz de Fora. Foi o início de outra etapa. Vim com a cara e a coragem, mas era aqui que queria morar. Em pouco tempo, me adaptei, comecei a trabalhar com vendas e como auxiliar administrativo em uma empresa, além de vender produtos diversos nas horas vagas. Daí começou um novo grande ciclo na minha vida.
Um tempo depois, meu melhor amigo de infância – o mesmo que me convidou para entrar aqui na Hive, o @michupa, me chamou para participar de um negócio que ele e um amigo estavam começando na área de vestuário naquela época. E, como sempre gostei de novos desafios, aceitei na hora.
Essa foto é de quando começamos em 2015. Depois de algum tempo, por alguns motivos, saí da empresa, e cada um seguiu seu caminho. Depois de um tempo, tivemos outra experiência na área. Foram fases de muitos aprendizados e onde me descobri e entendi o que queria fazer para a vida profissional. Foi um grande divisor de águas na minha vida. Aprendi muito sobre gestão de pessoas, produção, administração e a área que é minha principal: vendas e compras.
É incrível pegar um pedaço de pano e transformá-lo em qualquer modelo de camisa, com qualquer estampa que quisermos, entre outros modelos de roupas que também fazemos. Depois de alguns anos, decidi recomeçar novamente no setor, dessa vez com outra visão no geral e bem mais maduro!
Hoje, olhando para o passado, presente e futuro, vejo o quanto os processos nos moldam. Perto de completar três décadas neste mundo e sendo uma pessoa totalmente diferente do que já fui um dia, reflito sobre o quanto, às vezes, é necessário a gente “se perder para poder realmente nos encontrar” em nossa verdadeira essência. Aprendemos que o deserto é um lugar de passagem e não de moradia. A vida é uma incrível experiência para quem aprende a ser um exímio condutor.
Hoje também sou pai de uma pequena princesa incrível chamada Maju, o melhor presente que já ganhei na minha vida. Outra experiência que me moldou e me ensina muito a cada dia. A paternidade é algo surreal, ainda mais para mim, que fui criado por uma mãe solo, que teve que carregar toda a responsabilidade sozinha, e assim o fez muito bem. Ela me ensinou na prática o significado de ser forte e seguir em frente, independente das circunstâncias, e a não me tornar um fraco vitimista que sempre encontra um culpado. A paternidade é algo que molda o caráter e a direção de um homem de uma maneira que poucas coisas nesta vida são capazes de fazer.
Gostamos bastante de animais. Temos um cachorro, o Fred, uma calopsita, chamada Aldair, e um peixe Betta, chamada Menina. O nome da calopsita e do Betta foi a Maju que escolheu rs...
Sempre amei praticar esportes e estar em contato com a natureza. Correr, andar de bike, levantamento de peso, entre outros. Ir para o meio do mato, andar meio sem rumo, respirar aquele ar puro, é uma experiência que sempre gosto de ter. Momentos de paz, ouvindo apenas o barulho do vento, dos animais, dos pássaros e contemplando a pintura natural feita pelo Criador.
É uma das coisas que mais amo: me conectar com a natureza, caminhar por ela, sentir o ar puro e perceber que as coisas simples, muitas vezes, são as que mais fazem sentido. Apesar de ser um homem bem ambicioso e almejar muito da vida, são justamente as coisas simples, que não têm preço (como a natureza), que mais me trazem prazer.

Esse é um pouco sobre a minha pessoa, bem pouco mesmo rs. É isso, vamos nos conhecendo mais ao longo da caminhada nesse novo universo para mim, chamado Hive.
