Hey,

My name is Omer and I'm 18 years old from Israel.
Actually, I don't know where to begin, but let's just start with the important things :)
My biggest loves are sports, computer programming, and innovation.
I started to learn computer programming while I was 15, and since then, I managed to be a part of several projects:

  • At 15, I have worked as a copywriter and wrote a marketing content for a variety of websites and companies.
In fact, at the same time, I started to write code and created my first projects.

  • After a year which was full of learning and work, I started to work on a social media marketing tool, in order to make the social marketing work more easily and comfortable to companies. As part of it, the mission was to find out and predict which content will be work better among the specific audience of each company. Long story short, we had a huge success with the tool, and we also sold it to a known advertisement company In Israel.
Actually, this project was my first serious project.

  • Around the middle of my sixteen, I founded my personal business - 'Meep', which provided websites development, SEO and copywriting services.

  • In the end of 2016, I started to think about my future, and to be honest - I didn't see myself as a freelancer who works with customers. Maybe it's me, maybe it's the customers, the point is just that I can't work for people, I guess. I don't want anyone to give me orders, and treat me like his worker, I'm sure you can understand me.

**** At this point I need to stop and tell many things about me and my vision:
I never liked the idea of school and all this thing. I believe that the education program (at least in Israel) is wrong, but not because of mistakes (okay, maybe it's also a reason). It's only because the school wasn't changed from the 1900's.
Teacher, student, board, that's all. What about the special needs of each student? what about teaching some values? history and math are very important, but what about learning something about the REAL WORLD? like how to the economy actually works, and what is mortgage?
I think that these days, the schools are teaching to be a robot, a machine of grades, not how to be a good person or how to be ready for the real world.
As a result of my vision, I was a problematic student, I didn't go to the most of the classes and preferred to stay home and build my career - it's maybe funny to read it, but today I know it was the best decision I had ever made.
I went to school from time to time, for being with my friends and do some tests, but in my last three years, I was maybe 40% of the time.

The bottom line is that I just planned my future from the beginning, and I started to build my career very early.
Over the years I became more focused about my dreams and future, and today I know that I want to change something in today's education, or in other words - I want to improve the treatment among each student, and I want the students to learn how to become amazing people, not amazing robots.

**** That was my shortened vision

  • Where were we? at the point I understood that I need to work for myself and not for others? an amazing time. When I realized I need be the boss of myself, I suddenly knew what will be my mission for the next years: I need to make enough money for being able to achieve my dream - make a change. You can't make a change when you are in the UNLIMITED RACE OF SURVIVE, and you know what I'm talking about. I don't to sell some body part, and I don't plan on my grandfather's inheritance. How I'll make the money? by myself, and that's how I get the motivation to work on the internet, from my comfortable room, and earn like I didn't ever think someone can earn, without do nothing.

About all my journey to work from home, I'll talk in other posts, I guarantee. Meanwhile, let's continue:

  • If I didn't say yet, I'm a BIG FAN of hackathons (hackathons = hacking + marathons. Actually, it's a competition for teams of designers, programmers, and entrepreneurs, so the main goal is to create the best product. Oh, and I forgot, there is a free food). In the end of 2016, I took a part in the 'Education Of Things Hackathon' and won it with my partner, when we created 'Vola', a platform for making the volunteering more easily and comfortable among youth.
We also tried to make Vola a real startup, and we even created a professional team, but it didn't work.

  • In this year, I started to work in one of the big Hi-Tech companies in Israel, as a project manager and computer programmer, after I started to work with them as part of one of my personal projects (actually, we merged the projects to a big one project). These days I don't work there anymore, mostly because I learned enough in order to create awesome projects by myself.

Moreover, I'm interested in crypto: the most with BTC, ETH, and XMR. I have my own bitcoin & monero for long-term, and I'm also a daily trader in some exchanges. I really believe that blockchain is the future; in my perspective, it's a revolution.
I also like to travel around the world, eat and learn new things about the world.

In my posts, I'll share my perspective about the education these days, about working from home, and the most about how to achieve your dreams.

I'm happy to be here, and even happier to see that there is a platform like Steemit!

Ruven94, did you eventually do any work at utopian.io?
I'm into programming as well but can't get my head around how utopian works...

Keep up the good work welcoming folks! <3

Hello and welcome! Judging by your intro, you've found your place! If you want to code - check out @utopian-io - lots of money to be made contributing to open source projects. Anything else - ask me on the Facebooks - I am happy to help, especially such a promising author on the platform! <3

Thank you Ilana! This platform is just amazing.

Oh you've seen nothing yet. :)

i'm looking into utopian myself.
are there others like utopian for a PHP programmer that steem works with ?
does utopian have a community? a forum? somewhere I can ask questions about how it works?
i'm completely overwhelmed from the whole thing...

Discord. We're a fun bunch there. https://discord.gg/TMyAZ7

Such an entrepreneurial spirit!

I think you're not entirely right about the schooling system. Though it has a lot of issues, especially in Israel, the issue is much more complex than that. But most of us leave it behind at some point and stop thinking about it, which might be part of why it's languishing as it does.

Out of curiosity, "Ruven" is a simple given name. Your real name is Omer. How did you choose Ruven as your username?

And welcome!

Hey!
Firstly, I chose 'Ruven' because It's a nickname I used to call myself on the internet for a long time ;)
Secondly, you are so right, it's a more complex problem than it sounds, but because it's just an introducing post, I thought it will be easier to describe it briefly.
Let's just agree that there is a place for improving, ah? and someone has to do it, maybe it won't be me and you, but it has to happen.

Nice to meet you by the way :)

Well, my next question should be apparent, why did you pick Ruven to begin with? :D

And there's definitely room for improvement, but let's hope we will all have a hand in it. Leaving it to someone else is how it got to where it is now :(

Welcome to Steemeit!
I totaly agree and can relate to everything you wrote about schools. It's such an old system, which simply doesn't work anymore. I never finished my sat's, which never bothered my career. It actually made me laugh when I was invited to give a lecture at the university :D
Special unique people really shine far brighter outside of school, like Albert Einstein for example, who was a "bad student" as well (and also like the "Einstein" I'm married to myself ;) ).
Anyway, it's nice to see a bright promising young man such as yourself, you will do great here, I'm sure :)

Totally agree, nice to meet you Shlomit! :)

Welcome to Steemit @ruven94! Your introduction is definitely filled with interesting ideas!

Teacher, student, board, that's all. What about the special needs of each student?

You have a valid point here, and it's true that not everything is learned in the classroom. Same thing here in the Philippines, where I feel that the educational system is considerably outdated.

I want the students to learn how to become amazing people, not amazing robots.

On point!

I'd be glad to hear more about your adventure, progress and success! Cheers!

Thank you!
If you were the manager of your school, what would you change?

Welcome and good luck

Thanks man!
