Yes, you don't actually get notifications. You will have to check every time. And you earn here, by either
And as far as the money, I haven't figured that one out exactly. I am more here just for the friends, the money is just an added bonus to me. I do know that after 7 days, the money that you have earned will be put into your wallet, and you can claim it. For more information, just search it inside of steemit. They may be able to help more than I can. Like I said I'm still new here so I don't know everything.
Especially about only following people you have stuff in common with, to prevent too many junky notifications!
