Hello Steemit

Hi everyone,

My account is now live.

2 weeks was a long wait.

My name is Joe and I am currently living in Scotland.

This is my first real social media account, so it should be interesting to post and chat as that is something I have only really ever done with text and email up until now.

I like the way steemit allows users to maintain a good degree of privacy as apposed to sites like Facebook which encourage the disclose of every personal detail.

I also love how steemit is rewarding bloggers posts with cryptocurrencies. This is fascinating as cryptocurrencies are new to me.

I have lots of interests and I am still thinking what to write about.

I was thinking that to start with I would post about things that I thought were cool, hence the name spot-on, but I am sure once I get started it will turn out much broader.

In the meantime here is a photo of myself from my recent trip to the Isle of Skye.

Hello spot-on! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.

So the picture of yours was taken in Scotland? Beautiful scenery of that mountain. What is it called.

I believe the name of the mountain is Sgùrr nan Gillean. I just had to search for it. I find it tricky to remember the names of the mountains apart from the storr which is the most famous one. Skye is certainly impressive if love mountain scenery.
