I'll consider it entered. It's authentic, and there is a story. Thanks!

I love Mabel! A woman after my own heart :) And I love VW's... just magic. What a great story.

Thank you! I think Mabel would be proud.

What a great story! It mixes two of my passions, Main Street America History and Old Cars. Thank you so much for sharing! And now I know who to go to if I need a Beetle redone from scratch, too!

If you're ever in the Huntsville area, come on over. We've got both of those passions in spades.

I most certainly will! And thank you...

Wonderful story but the cars got me. It's a weakness.

Thanks! @bharper - They say Dub Fever is especially incurable. Once bitten, you'll never be the same.

Whoa! That's a really cool car and really cool backstory. Love how you weaved it all together.

Thank you! The Miss Mabel saga has been pretty cool to watch as it unfolded - both on the mechanical and personal side. There's a follow-up story I may post about how, ironically, Miss Mabel the car ended up with some bullet wounds of her own.

Wow, she's a beaut. I followed the link to the pictures. The transformation from a rust bucket is amazing. Great family story, too. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! She is a beaut - thanks for seeing it. It's incredible watching what these guys do to essentially raise vintage steel from a rusty grave and turn it into a ride that's drop-dead gorgous.

Love the story, but was blinded by the cars! Nice!

Some very sweet rides!
