Greetings fellow Steemers, I'm excited to be here! I'm a young and upcoming Swedish artist with a bachelor degree in forensic psychology.
In the past few years I started to shed my Marxist skin, all thanks to stumbling across libertarian and anarchist thinkers that made me question everything I held true, as well as my motives for holding on to these views. I started investigating the Austrian perspective of economics, and its critique of the current Keynesian model. Here I came across authors such as Rothbard, David Friedman, Mises, Hayek, Walter Block, Lew Rockwell etc., and I began seeing my own conditioning to believe that the state is there 'for my own good' and that it's the only possible source for things like courts, infrastructure, certifying businesses, inspecting food manufacturing etc. But having a state over you is like having a permanent parent that is constantly overseeing every action you do; what exactly does that do to individual growth? In my prior Marxist mind-set I held a more or less hidden animosity towards all successful people (many times successful due to state subsidies and privileges though). But I began seeing that I wasn't actually looking for 'justice' or 'fairness'; my starting point was instead jealousy. And two major ideologies, seemingly opposing, are rooted in jealousy and envy: communism and Nazism. One envious of the "bourgeoisie" / the business owners (or intellectuals, such in Cambodia), and the other of Jews. I also learned that the economic crises in modern time wasn't at all caused by too few government regulations (the mainstream media narrative), but the exact opposite. Special interest, cronyism and central banking was at the heart - but the political class has made sure that this remain hidden from the majority of people. Along this journey I also became a enthusiastic about crypto-currency and eventually ended up here!
I spend a lot of time thinking about matters that matter; such as how to best manifest a world of peaceful, non-violent and voluntary interaction. In the past I thought that the only way to reach harmony and peace was through state action; I actually equated state actions with benevolence and any private initiative with malevolence. But a centralized power attempting to socially engineer it's populace is rather counter-productive to human progress. Ethics, morals, virtue, empathy and compassion is about proper education and upbringing environment, and not edicts from a morally corrupt state that steal, threaten, coerce, jail and bomb the shit out of people. The state in its omnipotence implies that people are inherently flawed, immoral, ignorant and incapable of self-governance, which is obviously greatly handicapping.
In the coming blogs I thought I'd share with this community the insights I have won on my journey of self-investigation and how to overcome adversities and issues such as social anxiety, addictions and relationship problems in the hope that it may support other Steemers. I will also share more of my thoughts on voluntaryism contra statism. Happy steeming everybody!
