Having been lurking from afar for what seemed like an eternity, I have finally mustered the courage to check out a cave nearby.
The sign up front read »You are hereby welcomed to the Steemit community.«
As I wandered inside I saw a lit corridor. Light was coming from a narrow opening just wide enough for a single person to pass. As I got closer I was able to make out a human figure. The man introduced himself only as The Admin, requested some data from me and then ordered me to wait as he prepares my Stone for me.
As I waited for The Admin to return, I gazed into a gigantic sphere shaped room full of golden ornaments that reminded me of a gallery or a museum. Exhibits upon exhibits of people chiseling and polishing their stone statues and these same artists amongst passersby walking around the place admiring other masters work.
The Admin returned, nodded with agreement, then hinted me to follow him. As we left what appeared to be the Main hall, the build quality and product quality quickly descended. Golden ornaments were ever fewer, the statues were seldomly as well-crafted, there were hardly any visitors and even the air got an off smell to it. Walking by fine crafters with their amazing figurines without being given any attention filled my heart with sorrow.
We arrived at the very edge of the cave, judging by the room being half under construction. There was only one door besides the entrance with a sign Junkyard written over it. There were very few men working on their visibly newly-obtained stones. It was obvious one starts at the very edge of the cave and tries to work his way to the Main hall.
We ascended the stairs to the 18th floor and took a right turn. The Admin stopped at the fourth stone and threw a look at it. A rectangular block of marble with moss growing all over it on an iron pedestal.
This was my stone.
»You'll need one of these« said The Admin, pointing at a piece of paper on my neighbour's exhibit. »Best of luck.«
I looked at the stone block one more time and tried to visualize what to make of it. I sat down and wrote upon my paper:
- Short stories.
- Hiking, mountainclimbing, walking in general.
- Random acts of kindness.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some chiseling to do.

Now that we got that out of the way, I can tell a bit more about myself.
I'm a 21 year old Chemistry student from Slovenia.
I enjoy just about all sports but mostly found myself in hiking/walking/running.
I also enjoy writing shorter stories but sometimes lack the incentive to begin. It's mostly the reason I joined Steemit, as I'm trying to further motivate myself into writing more. After all, practice makes perfect.
Which is why I urge you to help me by providing constructive criticism, hence helping me improve.
