Hello Steemit. My name is Pearl. I joined Steemit on August 7, after buying an account from @anonsteem.
I am a 63-year-old Army veteran, living in Hawaii since 1986. Currently, I live with my roommate (we're platonic friends—Hawaii is expensive) and his cat.
From 1986 to 1998, I worked, first for a telecommunications company and later for a big government contractor, as a Computer Graphic Artist and a Software Technician. In 1998 I was laid-off, a few year later I became disabled by a movement disorder.

Since then, I've pursued various ways of making money at home with my computer. In 2014, I worked up the courage to open my first Zazzle store. Now I'm a ProDesigner (an attagirl Zazzle gives to their moderately successful designers) and I spend a lot of time designing personalized items for my three stores.
In 2014, I started making small investments in BitCoin. Got distracted with other things and put crypto-currency on the back burner until the end of 2016, when BitCoin had an astounding price increase. Now, I'm busy educating myself in all things crypto and hope to increase my investments until I've built up a sizable nest egg.

Earlier this year, my favorite crypto YouTubers @trevonjb, @rowbv, and @jerrybanfield introduced me to Steemit. I look forward to participating on Steemit and hope to make my posts fun and useful.
I plan on writing about my graphic design process, my MS Access databases, and public domain comic books. Please give me your suggestions!

Anyway why do you have to buy account from anonsteem? Isn't it still free to get a normal account from steemit site? I'm just curious
Technically, I didn't have to buy my account. However, I had been waiting for Steemit to verify my account and send me a password for several weeks. Then I read on Steemit about AnonSteem, so I bought my account from them, using part of my one LiteCoin that I was holding (paying with LiteCoin is cheaper than paying with Btc). As for being a veteran. Thanks for the acknowledgement—but my highest respect goes to those men and women who have been injured in the course of their service and those veterans who were career service members. I served for three years as an enlisted person during the '70s—couldn't wait to get out after my enlistment was up. Used my GI Bill to put myself through college. My late friend Britt was an officer in the Army during the Vietnam war and sustained a service related disability. She used her benefits to build a wonderful life for herself, but she always gave back to her community and her fellow veterans.

Because of my disability (I am healthy, but my movement disorder causes unintended movement and twitching when I'm aggravated or bored) and my low income, I don't have much of a social life. I watch a lot of TV (probably too much), watch a lot of YouTube and collect design ideas. Every so often, I will create a new form, report, or query with some underlying VBA code for one of my MS Access databases. I read, right now I'm slowly working through Ursula K. LeGuin's The Left Hand of Darkness. I plan on writing about my experience as a self-taught graphic designer and doing designs for Zazzle, may write about database design and management for personal use.
