Hello everyone, my name is Thijs van der Linde and this is my first post on steemit!
I signed up for an account a while back but I only recently realized that I had been allocated an account. I decided to join steemit for the same reasons that most of you probably did: the decentralized content curation, the chance to potentially monetize post and comments by earning crypto currency and to connect with a community that is interested in those features. And, as you probably know, conventional social media websites like facebook and twitter really don't deliver that kind of value. By the way, you can find me on twitter as well at @TL56AD. I'm probably gonna change that handle at some point, because it's just a fairly useless combination of letters and numbers I chose because I couldn't come up with anything better.
Also, one of the main reasons I have activated my account is because I have decided to start a blogging/podcasting project. I have not definitively decided on the name and the content orientation yet, but it will definitely by from a libertarian perspective and will probably have a somewhat scholarly orientation with perhaps some personal/lifestyle content as well. But, I well let you know what it's going to be as soon as I know! ;) As far as platforms are concerned, I may set up a blogspot domain as well. In producing the content I am going to be slow and steady at first, very open to feedback, especially because I am quite inexperienced, and I want to be an active curator in topics I am interested in as well.
In terms of how and why I decided to start this project, I'm gonna give a big shoutout to Patrick McFarlane @libertyweekly.
I first 'met' him in a private facebook group, where I asked an open question about specifics on law in a libertarian society, and he pointed me to his own podcast episode, which i was thoroughly impressed by, and after he even interviewed me (which you can find here) I became an enthusiastic follower and a patron of the show. So if you would like an example of content I look to as a model, look no further. :)
In terms of who I am personally, here are a few things you may like to know:
- I was born in 1996, so that makes me 21 years old as of this post
- I am currently studying law at a dutch university
- As i have already mentioned, I'm a libertarian, in the tradition of Rothbard, Mises et al. but I also would consider myself a humanist/atheist, and with a developing interest in the general principles of Objectivism.
- Some of my hobbies:
- I used to play guitar, and I am thinking about picking it up again
- chess
- learning languages ( currently Russian and Spanish)
- reading about anything and everything
- talking about big ideas
- I also have a developing interest in cryptocurrency and other investments as well, so I can send and receive several kinds of cryptocoins!
If there's anything you would like to ask or suggest, I'm all ears!

I also started with russian this year. Good luck! I still struggle with writing. Damn you cyrillic letters :D
Well, compared to cases and verb conjugation, that's the easy bit ;)
Well, I am fluent in czech and - as a slav language - I have it quite easy in that matter luckily.
What are you using to learn it? Web, books, personal trainer?
I am currently using duolingo and RussianPod101. I also look at russianlessons.net and masterrussian.com ocasionally and I am subscribed to a couple youtube channels with russian learning as a topic, but it's primarily the first two.
Welcome to Steemit. Nice first post and intorduction. I have advice for you. Write quality and interesting post, but first learn how to write and check how others write posts. On begining comment post which are interested to you. Try it and you will earn some STD. Just remember you need to write quality comments.
