IPFS is unstable and still under development. I would need to run several servers with ipfs nodes where I can pin my files. Otherwise I will have the same problem as d.tube: Files disappear.
And yes. I can store unlimited images and other data in s3 bucket. I attached a screenshot from amazons faq:
We use buckets and cloudfront distributions in different regions and we use the geolocation dns function from route53. I think its decentralized enough.

Well amazon do have downtime too haha. Risk of using centralized service. But anyway great initiative! And how is this different from steemitimages?

I'm sorry to hear that you dont like the project. We already have project owners using PixelHosting and an increasing rate of requests every day.
