RE: Hello. My name is Unclemantis and I am into Music, Photography and Blockchain

That is the beat attitude to have! The money is a nice bonus, but the people focused on it get tired and leave usually. The ones who don’t find an amazing community and usually end up making more anyway.

I don’t listen to much hard rock anymore but every once in a while I turned on Refused “The shape of punk to come” or Dillinger Escape Plan for fun.

Welcome! And try logging in from steempeak.com, the tribes there are really convenient and nice and so are the follow lists you can make

I am kinda iffy abouting giving out my private key. I know little about steemconnect and even it is in beta. Tell me more my firend.

With steem connect you can check your wallet for your active key (or maybe posting key, not sure) which does not grant them access to everything. I felt the same way. Maybe you can talk to some people on posts about steemconnect and steempeak and other front ends I'm not much of a tech guy myself

Just for information, I and a lot of users use the setup of Steempeak.com with Keychain, it is one of the best setups, and if you give them a try, you will see what I am talking about. We hated and had a lot of problems with Steemconnect, and again for info, with Steemconnect you can view your wallet and power up with the posting key, but to do anything else requires the active key. With Keychain you enter them once and store hard copies somewhere else and forget about it, you can put a password on the Keychain like I do, log in, and then done.
I use this setup every single day, and wouldn't change for anything.

I use it too and it is convenient but is there any guarantee that it’s safe? Can’t the developer steal all our passwords (not that I think they would)?

I would tend to think that these would be some relatively honest people since most of us know who they are, and they're good people and trying to make things better.
Besides that, SERCO and NSA and every other alphabet contractor agency already has all the information on everyone anyways, we were sold out years ago without our knowledge.
Btw, I really like your username!!!

It’s not just a matter of being honest. What if they are hacked. That’s our wallet passwords that have access to our money. I haven’t asked because I trust that they are smart enough to think of this and have certain safe guards in place but I really should have asked more people earlier just so I understand it

If someone else has your private keys your money is as good as gone. I’m pretty chill so I’m not freaking out about it but I hope they don’t have access to our private keys at all when we are entering them and I hope there is proof of that somewhere. I should ask someone directly involved.

Okay, but what I'm saying is that so far the only ones who have been "hacked" are people who click on links of people that they don't know, we've never had "hackers" that I am aware of, and also that is pertinent for all websites: there are no absolute guarantees, period, just have to have a little faith and some common sense.
Oh, and one more thing:
That is why in my comment on the introduceyourself posts always states to use the lowest key you can for an operation, such as use your posting key for as much as possible, and then if that gets compromised, they cannot access your wallet to drain it.
