How do you prepare for something that you never thought in a million years would happen? That was the question going through my head after two major developments in my life. One was the revelation or better yet an awakening to the fact of the matter that is our crumbling economy and corrupt government. The other was the finding out that I was going to become a father. Both changed me and my life forever, but how I reacted after both was surprisingly similar.
I remember it was nearly two years ago after moving back to my hometown of Savannah, Ga having bartended in Atlanta for a number of years and I was struggling to get on my feet. I moved back in order to pursue a job as a longshoreman at the Georgia Port Authority which I had been waiting on to materialize for a number of years and wasn't working very much (work has picked up substantially since). I began to grow suspicious of our way of life after hearing report after report of how well the economy supposedly was and how there was absolutely nothing to worry about. I also began to notice while I was working at the port that we offload a lot more cargo than we load onto these ships. How are we able to afford all of this with our nation in nearly 20 TRILLION dollars of debt?!? Let me say this to people who haven't awoken to the fact that our way of life cannot continue like this forever, please for sake of your family and friends that you love do some research and prepare yourself according to your situation. Now you're probably wondering when I'm going to tell you how I prepared for "The Great Reset"(as I've heard it coined), I dove in head first without inhibition! I cut out completely going out and drinking (was no fun for me after I had to start paying for drinks anyways), I sold off anything that wasn't a necessity, I started to accrue as much silver bullion as I could afford without bankrupting myself (I have since expanded my "portfolio" into the crypto currencies), when I was grocery shopping I would always buy extra canned goods to store in my closet (I have close to 700 assorted canned goods just in my small closet), and finally I added a few guns to my collection and began stockpiling ammo. While I do not know when or how this transition will happen, what I do know is that it will happen and not a soul on this planet can hide from the fallout.
It was just another beautiful morning on the water fishing in the sound, but little did I know this fishing trip would forever be special to me. One of my best friends Kellen and I were at it again early on this late March morning. Sunrise pretty typical....spectacular as usual. Tide had just topped and was making the turn. It was well on its way out when we anchored up to a trout drop (fishing spot) we knew about but we also knew was in some shallow water that was only getting shallower by the minute. The gamble would pay off, big time! We caught so many Red Drum that we lost count........well not Kellen, he never loses count because he routinely beats me in number of fish and the general size of the fish (don't worry we throw most of them back, and if we do keep them we eat them!). We ended up staying so long that we didn't have enough water to get out so my 6'5 self had to push us to deep water! Well worth it! Why do I tell you this story? Well first off fishing and nature is just a beautiful and natural thing. You can feel a connection unlike any other when you are out there. Second, this was 24 hours after the conception of my first child. I didn't realize it at the time but my life was going to change, but how much may surprise you. I didn't quit buying ammo, silver, canned goods, or cryptos. When you believe that everything your family has will be lost, the idea of having to provide for another mouth (one who cannot fend for themselves at that) will only increase your resolve to get your affairs and assets in order faster than originally expected. People say that having a child changes your perspective on life and what's really important, but as a "prepper" isn't that kind of part of who we are as a group. You know that in the end the only thing that matters is providing food and shelter to the people who love and depend on you.
Why do we do these crazy things that we do in life? Is it because we want to rebel against the system? Or is it because what you're doing isn't crazy to you? Sometimes the crazy thing is the right thing. "It is better to walk alone than to walk with the herd in the wrong direction" Don't be afraid to be different and do what you think is right to protect and provide for the ones you love. So if you were to ask me now how to prepare for something that you thought would never happen in a million years I would say to jump in head first with love and peace in your heart and the rest will work itself out.
