Hello Steemit world! My name's Cole, 20 years old, and a month ago I picked up everything I had in life at my parents house and moved to a city I've never even drove through.
On May 28th, I did something most 20 years don't dare to attempt, move 1,100 miles to a city they've never been to, jobless, and alone. With every penny I had left in my bank account I drove my life from Dallas, Texas to Clearwater, Florida where I now call home, and after a month of being here it’s been the best decision of my life.
I’ve learned so much about myself in the past 5 weeks. Before I moved to the Bay, I worked part time with private schools in and around Dallas, and loved the job. However, the feeling of being stuck just wasn’t fitting me. I was ready to get out of parent’s home (even though I love them dearly), and I felt trapped in a land locked state… Yes, Texas has the Gulf, but I was in Dallas, no chance of getting to salt water from there. In three weeks’ time, I found out about Tampa, and started my apartment hunt and found a beautiful apartment for $850/month, 10 minute drive from the beach and took the chance.

This journey has not been without its challenges. First task on my list was to get hired, but being surrounded by wonderful food and beaches, that ended up at the bottom of my to-do list. Three weeks later I remember I had bills to pay and got a job at some market on the beach, worked there for a week before I decided this wasn't going to cut it. I did some soul searching and knew I wanted and outdoors job, after about 3 hours of job hunting I had an interview on a tour boat here in the Bay. Not only was it a 4 hour long interview/seeing if I'll enjoy the job, but I even managed to get wet, get a nice tan, and witness a real life, man overboard situation... All in just my interview, needless to say the most interesting job interview I've ever partaken in! The next day I was off to get my drug test done and was hired on the spot!
My first day of work was rather difficult, worked 12 hours, but was able to bring home $218 on my first night, which is enough to make me happy.
The sunsets here are amazing when the clouds are perfectly aligned. I've truly become in love with the entire Tampa Bay area, it's culture, and environment. The food is also pretty amazing as well.
My love for food is a blessing in this city. From the Baja Bowls to the Sushi, it's all amazing.
What does the future hold? I'm excited for this new journey in my life. I can't wait to share stories and pictures as I explore this wonderful state and all it has to offer, while letting the Steemit community follow me!
