I am a Slightly-Polished Hillbilly with a Purty Mouth

The definition of zoophagy is the feeding on animals. As a Texas barbecue pit master, Zoophagy seems to suite me well as a screenname as well as a personal motto. I am a formally trained Chef de Cuisine that is capable of crafting sculpted plates of overly priced and pretty food. There is nothing particularly noble about this ability, but nonetheless it is a skill that I am glad that I learned. I grew up in the backwoods along a river where plates were made of butcher paper and the best house wine were made in my neighbor’s barn. In school, I learned how to make a soufflé and pair traditional flavors, in the woods I leaned which trees burned hot and which one’s smoke taste best with which animal. After learning both I discovered that I prefer the woods. My personal cooking style exist somewhere between the two worlds. I suppose that I am mostly a slightly-polished hillbilly. I cleanup nicely, but I am probably better at getting dirty.

I grew up in a family in which every child was expected to learn a musical instrument; I play the drums. On occasion, I play at family gatherings or on a weekend night at a local bar. My favorite music is red dirt such as Robert Earl Keene and Randy Rogers, but I also love rural and garage blues as well as solid rock-n-roll. I am not a fan of music that is overly produced in which the “artist” is merely a glorified karaoke singer.

I read a lot. Kurt Vonnegut and Aye Rand are my favorite authors. However, I do read nearly everything John Grisham writes. Once upon a time, I used to read every new Stephen King book, but in recent years I have grown disenchanted with how he drags a story out much longer than the story warrants. And to keep from doing the same thing with my simple introduction I will end my tale here. Of course, there is much more to share, but I do not believe that steemit is going away anytime soon so I may share more in future posts. Perhaps, I will shine a light on what truly happens in the Texas woods. Not all the stories are about hillbillies waiting behind a tree to molest or kill wayward travelers with a chainsaw. Some, but not everyone that passes through has a purty mouth.
