Introducing myself

An Introduction to Steemit

A FB friend of mine, Phillip J Watt, drew my attention to Steemit on one of his posts, and so here I am, a new member in what appears to be an interesting community online. I look forward to discovering much much more about this place, and the people that inhabit it as well as the ideas that circulate :)

By way of a quick 'introduction' I thought this piece – see below - which I wrote nearly three years ago as a comment on a video presentation from physicist Nassim Harramein, would be the simplest and best way to 'explain myself'. I have no particular agenda other than to seek a better understanding of the world we all share, it's myriad complexities, it's inconsistencies, it's beauty and it's horrendous injustices too. I still work in music, and find that to be one of life's biggest joys, the more so for me because I literally 'stumbled' into a career in this field, starting off as a drummer in my early 20's, mostly as a form of physiotherapy after a car accident which left me with multiple fractures in my pelvis, and a severely sprained left arm. That journey has taken me many places (a career in teaching in secondary schools in Victoria, Australia, and as a writer for various music and drumming magazines too), and continues to unfold here in Manila where I live.

                               'That Spiritual Experience'.

“In my early 20's one night at a party with some friends and many strangers, I had what I described at the time as a 'spiritual experience', one which was both very profound and very confusing at the same time; it was as if I had suddenly become 'tuned in' to everything around me...I could literally see and feel all the motion of energy in the room...the movements of people became swirls of connected energy, highly colourful, highly connected to everything else; it's easy to say 'I felt at one with everything' because that is what it felt like, but then I really didn't 'feel' like me either, rather I felt a part of something total, all encompassing, wonderful and loving...something had opened a door to the 'real' world, and not only did I see what was within, I became an integral part of it. When someone strummed a chord on a guitar, the ripples of 'sound' were simply orgasmic...the sheer 'joy' that I felt was totally overwhelming, without restriction or judgement on my part. This was not drug induced, though I will say that I had experienced LSD at least once before this event. The whole experience left me totally 'high' for about a month or so, where it felt like nearly every single event in my day was somehow connected and meaningful. Prior to this event I had no connection to religious or spiritual ideas, but the experience led me to look into many ideas on mysticism, the occult - astrology in particular - and to some degree religious writings too. I took up yoga and meditation, and slowly but surely learned a lot about ideas on consciousness, and on science and quantum physics and how various 'new' discoveries in these areas were validating some of the ideas and concepts spoken about for millennia by various spiritual guides, or in the 'mythologies' of ancient cultures. All of this was done simply because I had a burning inner desire to 'know', to understand more about the reality of my existence; I joined no groups, belonged to no religion, just read a lot, talked as often as I could with others who might have a similar 'outlook', and observed all that I could myself, both inwardly and outwardly. That initial experience was a catalyst of sorts too in me choosing to get involved in music, which I eventually turned into a 40 year career as a musician (still going strong), which I regard as one of the best choices I have made in my life.
Fast forward 40 years...newly married and now living in a different country (the Philippines), semi retired, and with time on my hands (I was waiting for a music studio to be built here at our house), I began revisiting a lot of topics of interest online. This started just over a year ago; now that was a revelation in itself, to discover SO much that was new...ideas on a holographic universe, the work of biological scientists like Rupert Sheldrake and Robert Lanza, physicists like Nassim Harramein, John Wheeler, Tom Campbell, and many many more; I also found Graham Hancock and others and all of their valuable work on ancient history, and I even found David Icke, Zachariah Sitchkin, Richard Dolan and many others and all the stuff on aliens, the NWO and the overwhelming evidence of alien visitation and possible 'creation' of humans by alien races. Whilst watching one of Icke's presentations, I slipped back into that same original experience I had had in my 20's, albeit for a few brief seconds; I didn't interpret that to mean that David Icke was right, just that my mind was telling me something important was happening to me...my awareness was once more 'growing'...I think as much because of my intense curiosity at the time as anything else! I found a few of Nassim's TED talks and various presentations, and just felt that he was on to something, and have looked at a lot of his stuff since then, including now, this presentation. The closest thing I have found that 'resembles' the initial experience I had is stuff I came across on DMT and Ayahausca, and some of the videos you see on this topic are a bit like the visual experience I had, or at least as close as anything I can come up with. Nassim's description of the unity of everything emanating from resonance that begins at the plank length scale also just 'feels' right to me, both intellectually and emotionally, and whilst he will not be right in all that he postulates, I certainly think he, and others, are moving us all in the right direction. And right now, in our collective history, we need to spread the word, to try to bring about the changes in attitude and belief that will engender the creative changes needed in our culture and behavior. The NWO is not sitting still, and whilst I am an optimist, humanity IS on a knife edge...maybe the good aliens will come to our rescue, maybe not. Personally I prefer to operate as if they are not there (at least until that reality is known to all...disclosure MAY be immanent, but then again maybe not), and to believe that it is our task to bring about change in ourselves and our world rather than looking for 'assistance' from elsewhere. Courage is needed in so many ways - spiritually, emotionally and even politically - to shift the current destructive paradigm from the mainstream and move towards a more inclusive and creative future for humanity.”

I hope the above serves as something in the way of an introduction to the steemit community; I am happy to be involved in lively discussions, to share resources as far as possible, and to learn from others too...

Sincerely, Paul Matcott
