Hello Steemit users,
My name is Gaz or Gary (your choice), I live in Buxton, Derbyshire, U.K. and I hope to become a part of the Steemit community :)
I have come on here to support and use an agreeable format. I have had issues with selectively monetised videos on other sites and steemit seems fair and community based, so I am sure it will grow and expand, for those reasons. It's nice to be able to post a written work that might not be dismissed and have enjoyed two such articles and haven't watched a video yet.
I felt it would be a good idea to say hello and think about uploading content, but I don't have a video camera. I do, however, intend to join in and I have some genuine treats for everyone. I am a magician, but not as full time as I used to be. I support magic, but have found that there are a lot of things to criticise, due to the commerciality and greed involved.
I was about to continue, but this may be a good first written post, as I used to love writing and haven't done any for some time. So, I am a magician and will be posting some magic that I have created and will be giving top class advice for potential to professional magicians. But, back to the point. I am excited about the growth and development of Steemit, which I found through videos, after frustrations with censorship and I'm sure I'll feel at home amongst a community made up of a wide and varied, similar minded folk from over there and stuff.
I also study and research many matters, from 'Where are we?', to 'Who are we?', to 'Why are we here?' I have an interest in what is happening to the planet and it's inhabitants and why. I take a special interest in law and health, medicine and governments, freedom and common sense. Hmmmmmm, I should just have posted, "Hello, I like lots of things".
Okay, you have indulged me above and beyond normal expectations, so I will bugger off. Thank you for reading and I hope to be a valued member of a mahoosive (massive) community of friends.
Oh yes, I feel it pertinent to expalin that I will get a photo added, as I have some, somewhere, and hopefully would have worked out how to add a profile picture by then.
All the very best,
Gaz.
Welcome to Steem @gwb235 I have upvoted and sent you a tip
Wow, thank you, bottymcbotface. That's kind and encouraging of you. I do feel welcome on here and I have a lot to learn about how things work and if I'm doing anything wrong, but I thought I'd just start writing a few bits and see what happens. Thanks for the tip, botty (if I can call you that, for short :) ), it's nice to be here and all the best.
Thanks for sharing...

nice to see you welcome to steemit
Welcome!! Magic, what else is there? :-)
:) The observer? Their perspective, maybe? Oh, it wasn't a question, per se ha, ha, ha. Indeed, what else does one require?
of course, of course - you are right in both respects ;-)
I had a rememory this morning and thought of this post. In particular the perspective/observer aspect and the creation of 'the piece'.
I've always liked words and wordsmithery and I used to say that I paint pictures with words. I don't think it's an original thing, but the details of writing a piece, or constructing it, is akin to the application of oil to canvas or pencil to paper, in that you have a picture in your mind or a concept that you wish to share and portray, but more importantly, you want the observer to empathise.
Your aim is to swap places with the observer. To stand above, almost as if out of the body, observing the observer being the concept guardian. Observing the observer being you. It is a most underrated artform and yet communication is the key to all art. Communicating one's thoughts, feelings, desires and perceptions in a picture..... or within a paragraph?
I also used to say, "If a face could paint a thousand words, how does it hold the brush?"
Just a thought :).
