Resilience Pictures is a Fitness Photography by Andy H. Tu. I am Andy.
I am a Northern California artist and photographer serving the Bay Area.
I enjoy exploring and examining a wide variety of subjects in my artistic work that range from compositional narratives to avant-garde experiences.
I acquired a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Visual Effects and Animation and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Art Education.Throughout my years of athletic endeavors, I developed a strong appreciation for human limitations in our bodies and studied kinesiology.
Through kinesiology, I developed an understanding for movements, and through my art studies, I stay rooted in composition, color theories and contrapposto studies.
About Resilience
Resilience was a name that we came up with when we thought about the process that came through training. At first it was about the athletes I've worked with, but it became more than that.
Life knocks us down, but we can choose whether or not to stand back up. A lot of us have struggled through life, whether if it was financial hardship, unfortunate events, or disabilities. We don't let this stop us. Those who are resilient will find positivity through the hardest times.
We need to be willing to sit in silence. We are masters of distraction: T.V., overeating, abusing drugs, risky behavior, gossip, etc. We all react differently to stress and trauma. Some of us shut down and some of us ramp up. Somewhere in the middle there is mindfulness-- being in the presence of the moment without judgment or avoidance. It takes practice, but it’s one of the purest and most ancient forms of healing and resilience-building.
"The best people possess a feeling for beauty,
the courage to take risks,
the discipline to tell the truth,
the capacity for sacrifice.
Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable;
they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed."
-Ernest Hemingway
