Hi,
I'm Kim. Introductions are supposed to be a chance to let you get to know me, to tell you something about me. So, here goes (this is the condensed version, because I am quite certain that the best way for you to get to know me will be to read my posts, see how I think, and join the debates that will likely result.)
What do I do? I write. Books (fiction and non fiction, Amazon bestsellers, all that stuff), posts, travel writing, all sorts of things. I teach other people how to write books, and how to use their writing of all kinds to help them in their business and I publish their books for them. I also take photos, and make them into art, books, and other things or put them with my articles. I do graphics too. Pretty much, if it has words and pictures, I do something with it. But not video...... video just does not connect for me (yes, I hear you all, I know that 'in this day and age, you have to do video....etc'. But I don't. its an enormous struggle for me. So I do the easier things.)
I used to do that 'work in a corporate job' thing (IT management, if you care) until it ate my soul to the point where I engineered a way to stop, and just do books etc. I also took the chance, with that change, to travel a lot more (23 countries in the last three years, and adding to the list all the time - which from Australia, takes a bit to make happen).
Why am I here? Because I found this, quite by accident, and the whole idea appealed to me. I have been looking for somewhere to indulge a part of me which is less and less happy with not getting the chance to be heard. That is the contentious part, the part that wants to make sweeping statements about the things I have opinions about, the part that wants to start conversations on controversial, or potentially controversial topics, and then just let the discussion roll. The part that the corporate world could never have accepted, and which my book clients might be a bit uncomfortable with (well, some of them...). So, Steem audience, you are the lucky ones, the ones who get to engage in controversial discussion with me (I hope!) - and I plan to make it fun.
This is likely enough as an introduction, but here is a topic teaser - some things I'll probably be talking about, in no particular order:
geographical discrimination
how the payment processors and similar are helping keep Africa poor
circadian pattern discrimination
why finding a way to label yourself can actually make your world LESS limited
and more stuff like that.
Thanks for reading - and please join the discussion on my future posts.
