Belated introduction

So having just done an article yesterday on Freestyle BMX in the Olympics, it occurred to me that I have still yet to do an introductory piece on myself and why I found that so exciting.

So to everyone on Steem, hello, my name is Nathan "Lanky" Philps and I ride Freestyle BMX.

I have been in the BMX scene for about 14 years now and have been a long time supporter, coach and mentor to thousands of riders around the world. BMX is my life and passion and through it I have been able to see many different countries and journey the world in a way I wouldn't think possible if I hadn't taken up riding.

I've coached through Europe, the UK, America, Japan and my home country of Australia and it has been a blessing to be able to touch so many lives. My goal now after having been so many places and done so many things is impart my experiences on to the younger generation who are upcoming and want to know what possibilities the sport holds. I absolutely love seeing kids reach their trick goals and I don't believe there is a single child who should be told that they can't achieve something. Tenacity is key and if they're willing to put in the effort, then as adults I believe it is our responsibility to lift them up on our shoulders and help make those dreams come true.

I do hope that through Steem and everyone's help that I'll be able to fund excursions to remote locations where I'll be able to interact with kids who otherwise wouldn't have a chance to see a professional level rider and teach them all about the massive world that is out there.
