I'm pathetic at intros. I never know what to say about myself and admire people who write in a way that is confident and not-too-full of themselvesy and sound great.
With me that doesn't happen. I always start by saying I'm a Mum - I think that's the most important thing to me - two most adorable and reasonably normal boys aged seventeen and twenty three and I could write about them all night.
I don't know how I ended up here. I'm extremely grateful already and I haven't even started yet. It's opened up a whole new world to this not-needed-so-much-any-more mother.
I have played with writing on and off for many years; a highlight of this journey being an invitation to perform at the Delhi Poetry Festival in 2014 - which was awesome. I got to experience life with an Indian family, meet poets from all over the world and read my work in some fabulous venues.
Another highlight was reading at an International Woman's Day event in the Blue Mountains here in Sydney. I was the only poet performing with a bunch of musicians and boy, are those guys fun to be with! (Much more easy going than a bunch of poets.. lol) I loved the vibe and had a fabulous night. It was awesome.
What do I want to get from this Steemit experience? I have no idea. I came to it quite accidentally and was intrigued by what I read and the potential I could see. I got excited. And then people were friendly. And I met some discord folk, who also seemed friendly...
It's a totally new foray for me, something I've not done before. I'm excited and a bit nervous and well...
.. as the good English say..
Thank you for having me 😊
Hi Larajt! Hope you'll enjoy it here on Steemit. It's a great place to be whether you're a content creator or just like good content :) Nice to meet you!
