One question haunted me right after my graduation in 2016 or even before that when I was about to start my graduation in Mechanical Engineering. The question is:
What's my ultimate goal and where am I currently directed?
After graduation, I tried to get a job in a reputable company. Why not start in and cash out the opportunities available? Maybe because I secured 93% marks in my Secondary School Certificate and 85% in my Higher Secondary School Certificate and I was supposed to get a job in a good company. or Maybe we humans have inherited the desire for good and aim high. Anyone would have thought this at that point.
What Happened after Graduation?
I applied voraciously for jobs but could only secure an internship in a PowerPlant and the internship lasted only for a month. After that, I was again stuck with no job. I still have 90+ registration slips and bank challans of jobs I applied for during all these years. I applied for government and private sectors but couldn't secure a job.
At last, I decided to appear in Civil Services Examination (CSS). I took all 3 attempts of CSS and 2 attempts of Punjab Managerial Services (PMS). I would remind the readers that qualifying and allocating in civil services and working as a civil servant is a sign of prestige. Most graduates do this. That is the reason 40k applicants participate in this process every year. Unfortunately, I could not make it through.
What Plans do I have Before Graduating?
I want to get a job and work as a mechanical engineer. Then after 2 years of experience, I want to go for a master's in mechanical engineering as I would have explored my interest in a specific field. I have been applying for MBA during my bachelor's. I was explorative all the time.
I do have plans to pursue CSS since the third year of my bachelor's. I bought a book to get an initial understanding of CSS at that time. But I was planning to go for CSS after getting enough experience in engineering. But my plans did not go well and I have to cope with the situation as it was.
I want to add that I was always enthusiastic about technology, information technology, and artificial intelligence. I love sci-fi more than thrillers, love stories, or other genres. I love to read about AI.
How Did I Get in Web3 Space?
I got a chance to work on an NFT project. I created their Discord Server and the pay was handsome. After this, I got another opportunity to work with a Gamefi Project developing on Avalanche Blockchain. I also started as a moderator but after a few months, I was promoted to Community Manager. Then I hired a few moderators and other community managers for the same project. I worked as a Community Management Team Lead, and Business Development Manager. It was a great experience, learned a lot about web3, and got the chance to work with really wonderful people.
Before working in Web3, I worked as a Content writer with a web 2.0 IT Company. I started my own blog by hosting a website.
Before Getting into Web3 Space?
After working for a very short time with the IT company in web 2.0, I submit my resignation. The founder of the company called me and said:
Why do you want to leave the job? I can see you are doing really well. You are a hardworking person. I assure you that you will be getting a handsome salary within 6 months or a year. I will promote you in my company.
I answered,
Sir, I am aiming for something. I have a goal in my mind that I want to achieve in the immediate 6 months. (I shared the goal with the founder).
He responded:
I do not doubt your abilities. I am sure you can achieve this. I think you are in a hurry. you want to compensate for your previous years which were not much productive. Go step by step. if you would not achieve this, you will curse yourself.
So, with mutual understanding and getting pieces of advice, I left the company. After 3 months, I have been working in web3 as a community manager. For 1 year, I worked on the same project. It was the best experience so far.
Where I am Heading to:
Currently, I am exploring a few options:
- Looking for job opportunities in web 3.0
- Learning new skills including, data analysis, technical analysis for crypto trading,
- Considering to go for Masters Programs
- Learning new Lanugages to explore job markets
- active in Web3 at Hive, and a few Accelerators Platforms in Web3.0 which are facilitating web3 projects for funding, incubation, and education of web3 courses
- involved with Gamefi Projects
Where Do I Aspire to be:
I am driven to get employment, progress, invest, gain understanding, and initiate an enterprise.
When I say, I want to get employment, I am not restricting myself to any single profession or restricting to my degree. But I will not get an employment offer which I cannot do. When I say, my goals include investing, I am not constrained to investing in crypto, real estate, or web3. I want to invest in value creation and value capturing. I am determined to invest my time and wealth. When I say am thriving to progress, I am considering professional, personal, and relative progress. When I talk about initiating an enterprise, I am talking about my legacy.
I am tilted to learn quant analysis skills. Meanwhile, I have to carry my bills and have to manage my finances so actively looking for jobs as well.
With my current situation, I would like to get a few words from the readers. What do you suggest, where should a person go from this position?
