Greetings Steemit,

I’m Scott and a total noob to steemit! I like to live today, not tomorrow.

Soon it will be my birthday Jan 28 and I'll be 53 but my soul will always be young as I refuse to grow up!

Found #steemit simply browsing the internet and thought why not give this a try. I'm on a handful of social sites like Linkedin, Facebook and Instagram but I not impressed by the results mostly cause like others I'm bored of all the self promotion and what seems to be a growing trend of fake everything.

Myself, I'm a man of my word - not many of us left in the world.

As a child, I grew up in the business world of the Chamber of Commerce in Mission, Texas. My mom was very active in the community. My father was a Texas Highway Patrolman.

I'm the youngest their 4 children, also the last remaining one alive as I've had to bare the pain of seeing my family fade over the past 6 years while here in Ukraine. My mom, brother and 2 sisters have all passed away and now my father is also gone. Don't be sad, I live today.. it's ok as life must go on.

My post will be about all kinds of things sometimes my mood will be crappy, happy or even modified. I'll do my best to keep it interesting as I certainly have an extensive past full of mistakes. There are indeed some amazing moments like the birth of my only daughter and my 1 grandchild - yep, I'm old - lol

Not interested in big houses, fancy cars or even bling bling.. guess, it's never really interested me. Since I was 7 years old I've worked my lemonade stands, mowed neighborhood yards. Each Saturday my friends and I would hit the movies and we'd have a great time on the cash I made. We were all poor, no cell phones nothing.. simply knocking on doors figuring out where everyone was hanging out.

I love my 3 months living off the grid on the beach of South Padre Island, Texas or SPI as most call it. The beach is about 25 miles long so I drove my jeep about 10 miles down and mostly would see fishermen, the beach patrol pass by. Sometimes they stop to make sure all is ok, even ask if I needed supplies from the local town. When weather was bad I'd pack it up and head over to my mom's home who was an hour away. Really, miss here and those times. She attended a few trips but not stay overnight.. lol, not into roughing it like me :)

Presently and most recently I was laid off from a 14 year career as I trusted corp life to provide me with a retirement - not going to happen. It's for the best, as I now returned to full time web design and enjoy helping others look good and save them some money.

While I came to Ukraine to work a contract for the #1 web supplier with no intentions of getting married again, I was married 20 years faithfully in USA at the end to hear.. "I never loved you" - yeah, that sucked! Anyway, cupid had other plans for me and I met Evengia or Jenna.

As for my expectations for posting this intro, it's in hopes to find others like me who enjoy keeping live real. And if any funds come from my efforts on this site it will go to help us put smiles on the local ophans that we go visit each Christmas. There are many in the world, you can help simply by reaching out to your local homeless shelters etc..

Here's our 1st give.. we visited the local home and asked each child to put on a note what they wanted as a gift from "Santa" two weeks later we showed up with each request answered 100% even some were as simple as pen and notepad. We also surprised them with a girls and boys bike to share. We're not rich, but our hearts are made of pure gold.

We live in a village near Kiev, Ukraine in the home her father built. It's a little farm, we've got chickens, pigs, goats and even some ducks as well as our 2 dogs. The cost of living compared to USA is no match. For example, a 45 minute taxi ride here is about $15 US. Electric bill for the month is about $30. Maybe I'll make a comparison post in future if anyone is interested in such information.

I'm also into cooking like my grandma, bbq's like my dad and hunting mushrooms with my wife here in the country. No, not those like of mushrooms.. lol

As for Snerdey - it's my nickname from my years working at AOL before 9-11. If you find my post interesting, want to friend up, follow or share.. I invite you to do so.

Be good to others.. karma is still a bitch ;)

Welcome to Steemit bro

Thanks, no telling what will come of this adventure :)

Everything will be just fine

Hey Welcome to Steemit and check this Out 😉https://steemfollower.com/?r=9359

Thanks, I feel referred by the fancy link provided. It's most likely not for me as my idea here is to simply provide content for others to share. Hopefully as my goal is to gain some additional funds to help the local children's home by next Christmas ;)

Hello on steemit)

Hello right back at you!

Welcome to Steemit! You will love it here!

I was actually born in Kiev, Ukranian. Now I live in the states!

Hey Thanks for the comment @alovelymess and cool to see we've traded countries - lol.

I bet you miss the cost of living here. Myself, I have my residency and loving this way of life.

Well, I was born there and lived there until I was 10. So I don't don know much about the living cost there.

Well, for starters the total internet bill for fiber optic service is only $10 US / mth. Mostly, total living expense is about $300 a month ;)
