Self-portraits be like swimming in a hundred waters of tongue and cheek

Do you know Friedensreich Hundertwasser? I’ve admired the curvy architecture he inspired for a long time, but I didn’t know his paintings very well.

He had a simple, natural vision and a motto that burns itself into my head:

The straight line is godless and immoral.

During a visit to an exhibition of his work, I was amazed at the colors, they were so intense and just popped out at you begging for attention. His pictures and drawings inspired me so much that I couldn’t wait to grab my colored things and start drawing. I didn’t have anything in particular in mind, but it turns out it became a self-portrait!

Gee, I know you’ve always wondered…

Seriously, I didn’t realize we had that checkered thing in common. It floored me!
