According to coinmarketcap.com steem is currently trading at 1.20 USD with a market cap of $286,462,166. This is disappointing because most of us expect a bullish steem by now, however we have seen volatility in price of altcoins due to the current precarious nature of Bitcoin and crypto currencies in general. In reality, however, is it a bad thing or an opportunity to buy more steem and power up? Here are some few points:
Is Steem Low Price Good, Bad or Ugly for Us?
- Loss in Value : Those who are holding steem will see some lose in value , however this is a good thing for those of us that will be here in the long run because steem price will certainly rise by year end and continue in an upward trajectory.
- Aspiring whales and dolphins: If you are working hard to be a dolphin or whale, this is the opportunity to invest in steem and power up. Powering up will give you more power in steemit which can be used to reward good contents (get more curation rewards) , punish bad contents / scams and or reward yourself by up voting your blog posts. So this is a win win opportunity. Moreover, the low steem price can lead to more minnows growing to dolphins and baby whales which is good for the community.
- Opportunity to invite more people to steemit: now is the time to work even harder and market steemit to your friend, family members and social media contact in order for them to join , buy steem cheap (power it up) and start blogging. This will lead to a positive ROI concomitantly , with the ability to learn a lot of new stuffs in the steemit community. Moreover, according to the weekly steem stats by @penguinpablo there is constant weekly increase in new account created meaning that new people are signing up in steemit in order to benefit from the undervalued steem price and importantly, make money while blogging about what they care for.
- More gain in payout: it is true that post payout has declined drastically however; our steem dollars can buy more steem due to the low price of steem thus time to take advantage of the opportunity.
In light of all these afore-mentioned points, we should certainly take advantage of the opportunities in Steem ecosystem and enjoy the experience and learning opportunities in steemit. Therefore, do not get worried because of the low steem price rather see it as an opportunity to grow your investment in steem power and most importantly, grow the steemit community. I am, however, sure that steem low price will not hold in the long run because investors will certainly notice that the steem ecosystem is undervalued. Thus, steem current low price is not an ugly or a bad thing , rather a good opportunity for us to grow our steem power and be more relevant in the future of social media.

Every coin is down right now, a lot of money is moving to bitcoin or to cash (fiat) for the transition. This clearly drives the prices down. I am going the other way. I am buying up the low priced alt coins, including steem, this is all going to turn around. We have another bump in the road in November, so this drama is not over yet...
Simple answer, buy steem. Spend what you can AFFORD to spend. In other words, money you DON'T need and WON'T need anytime soon. My sister has a very large jar of quarters on her mantlepiece. That kind of money. Make sense?

I wish I had money to buy , at this point im just hoping the price of steem goes back up after Tomorrows Bitcoin hard fork !! Im holding onto 500 steem I drastically need to pay my rent right now haha !! Im going to try and put off my landlord un till I see whats going on !! It seems ALL altcoins are trending down these days, mostly triggered by uncertainty surrounding Bitcoin and the possible fork... and what that will "mean."
But let's not forget that is BTC, not Steem... the fundamentals of Steemit are still intact, so this still seems like a good time to build.

It is just really hard to tell what is low and what is high for STEEM. It came up from $0.07. That was brutal. So to be honest when it is above $1.00 I kind of feel like it is semi healthy.

Steem was trading at Euro 2.52 on June 7th, all crypto is down for last two months. Everyone is hoping after the Bitcoin hard fork is over with all prices will rise so Steem should be a good investment.
