Let me repeat that: Everyone can retire a millionaire. Period.
You cannot start soon enough with investing! Even a small USD 1,000 will help you to become a millionaire in the long run! This is all the result of the snowball effect and the time value of money.
I will explain this further by using an example:
Let’s say you are an 18 year old and start investing with USD 400 every month. You invest through an inexpensive broker in a S&P 500 tracker. By doing so you invest in the 500 largest companies of the USA. To quote Warren Buffett ‘never bet against the USA’. From the early days in 1924 the S&P 500 index has shown an annualized return of 7% adjusted for inflation. This annualized return is the catalyst to become wealthy! When you invest USD 400 every month from your 18th birthday, when you are 30 you would have obtained USD 100,000 worth of stock in the S&P 500 index.
When you just put that USD 100,000 aside and ignore it completely, by the time you are 65, the USD 100.000 will have grown to USD 1.1 million dollars! This is completely the result of working hard and putting money aside between your 18th and your 30th.
When you are 65 you can just retire from the dividends you will receive on this USD 1.1 million dollars. A 3% dividend yield would give you USD 33.000 every year. With this kind of money you can easily retire on a nice tropical island or in a beautiful country such as Thailand. And remember, this is all the result of putting aside USD 400 every month for a bit over a decade. Wow!
This very simplified example just shows that pretty much everyone can retire a millionaire when you just put in the hard work and time as soon as possible!
