Ten years ago today, June 29 2007, the very first iPhone hit stores in the US and everything changed. It was a milestone in the history of computing. Apple sold a million devices in just over two months.

10 years ago today, the world changed...
Did you know the first iPhone didn't even had an app store? For more than a year, until iPhone OS 2 came out in July 2008, there was no store to download and install new apps. The first iPhone was originally released with just 15 native apps, not even enough to fill the home screen. Apple was convinced "webapps" (single-serve websites, which could be saved to the home screen) were the future. Besides the lack of an app store, the device lacked 3G connectivity, the camera resolution was just two megapixels and its battery struggled to last a day.
"Today, Apple is going to reinvent the phone" - Steve Jobs
And yet, Apple sold a million devices in just over 2 months. It wasn't because it was the first "smartphone" or the first phone with a camera. The iPhone just did what it said it would do, in a simple, easy manner. While most other phones had physical buttons back then, Apple’s touch interface made things much simpler. Right from the start, the iPhone had a full-colour, multi-touch screen and it had the same basic interface which is still in use today.

For every dollar you had invested in Apple back then, your stake would now be worth $8.44, not including reinvested dividends. Unfortunately, I've missed that opportunity.
Happy 10th Birthday iPhone!
So this trend icon started 10 years ago. I never got an iphone due to its high price though but now I am looking to have iphone 8.

Wow, I can't believe it was that long ago, I was still in love with my Blackberry then, now I'm a Samsung fan as the cameras are so good.
10 years already - time really flies by!!! I remember the day when a office mate brought the first iPhone to the office! :)
Thus died the human memory...
One of the greatest achievments in popular technology. Remember those phones before iPhone, nothing compared to iPhone. But true revolution started with iPhone 4, it was amazing. I still have couple of them in my box and many people still use it. Awesome phone.
I remember when the I-phone came out, I was still trying to get Bluetooth Internet with a crappy phone on my laptop lol.
I was like YESSS, I CAN FINALLY TETHER WITH I-phone!
Good old times :)
Yes sir :)
What a change these phone changed our life. With out smartphones and the apple iphone idk we all would still be using FLIP phones.. HAHAHA o flip phones

10 years already, look at how time flies, Happy birthday
Wow 10 years of IPhone and I don't know how is to use one... I was doing fine with Symbian phones from Nokia 100 programs instaled and I was using it at full potential then I changed to Android with Note2/3 and S series and Im stuck with Android now.... too much potential to change it... like blockchain technology... :)
Nice Information and Good post dont forget Follow me @willyfavindy thank....bro
Iphone changed the world
The hitech power in the hand
@penguinpablo, thanks for the reminder, what an amazing phone at the time. Just had my first iPhone in my hand yesterday when clearing out the garage. Revolutionized the market! Let's make sure Steemit does the same!
The most popular smartphone of the world but the most hated device outside of america because of its closed system and very high price, on the other hand Android and Samsung Rocks, not a fan of Apple @penguinpablo
Making us all feel old with a post like this, but thanks for sharing anyway! :P
I remember this coming out as i was finishing high school , it was like THE thing to have, i actually thought it would just be a passing fad...well...10 years later and here we are, everyone and their mother has one of these things
Im still wondering when theyll make a flat iPhone..
And still. I could not buy one... :( time is running fast for me ....
Don't know when will I buy IPhone ..huhhh
I have read Steve Jobs biography though...lol
I remember when my friend from school was the first person at school to have one. Let the thought of how cool that makes him sink in...
It feels like only yesterday haha
The iPhone has come very far in just 10 years. I remember back when my friend's dad brought one back and I found it to be the weirdest looking device at that point of time haha! Happy birthday iPhone! Cheers!
#follow4follow
The first iPhone I had was iPhone 5s. Still have that :p
I never know this face although I am using iPhone for quite a long time. It is amazing
Wow , was it that long ago. I had the 1st ipod touch before the phone. I remember how slick and how far ahead of everything else it was. Now others have caught up and overtaken Apple, but back then they were like a device lost by a time traveller that you happened to pick up.
I can't believe i still haven't owned an iphone all these years even though i do some iphone development from time to time. They're good phones but a bit too pricey and i don't like the closed ecosystem.
Hard to believe it's been 10 years already.
Wonder if Apple will be here in 10 years and how weird our phones will look by then :D
Science and technology go forward, not steps, but leaps=)))
10 years - 14 Iphone -
Edge, 3G, 3G S,4, 4 S, 5 C, 5, 5 S, 6, 6 S, 6 S Plus, Se, 7, 7 S ...
I liked apple at the beggening, but not after the 4 S ...
For the easy and unic reason that they planned the obsolescence of their products. Apple is not the only one to do it, sure, but they really contributed into the normalization of this practice. That makes people depends of their products a lot and makes them feel that they are nothing without their iPhone. That's one thing, but more than anything, that contributes so much
to the pollution of our planet.
Joyeux anniversaire à l'iPhone d'Apple.
This is incredible! To think that I was only 20 back then LOL!!!
With criticism or not, the iPhone quickly revolutionized the world and transformed digital life - the mobile environment has increasingly made advances and gained ground over the desktop. ...
Apple Iphone surely broke the mold and created an entirely new revolutionary market, but since then they have taken a back seat to Samsung in development and overall quality. I have an S8 and when I look at or pick up an Iphone 7, they are not even in the same realm of quality. Sad!
Has it been so long really? :)
I've never been a huge fan of Apple and when smartphones became common I actually boarded the Android train, but there is something undeniable here, this device started a revolution! :)
I have iphone 4 and i love it.
Good post, Meet the new iPhone (iPhone 8):
