Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Chris Lynn, Mitchell Starc, Dinesh Karthik, Robin Uthappa, Kuldeep Singh Yadav, Piyush Chawla, Nitish Rana, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Shivam Mavi, Mitchell Johnson, Shubman Gill, Ranganath Vinay Kumar, Rinku Singh, Cameron Delport, Javon Searless, Apoorv Vijay Wankhade, Ishank Jaggi Kolkata Knight Riders decided to take a big gamble before the IPL 2018 auction. They decided to retain their two West Indian stars in Sunil Narine and Andre Russell and surprisingly chose not to continue with their two-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir.
Kolkata Knight Riders spent some money and their RTM cards on buying some important players. They bought Chris Lynn in the auction and got Robin Uthappa back using RTM. Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana, and Ishank Jaggi were bought from the wicketkeeper and batsmen category. They also managed to snag the two Mitchells – Johnson and Starc for their bowling.
KKR team management also used their RTM cards on Piyush Chawla and Kuldeep Yadav. On the second day, they invested a lot in uncapped Indian talent. KKR will come in IPL 2018 with the lightest squad with just 19 players and somehow they managed to spend their entire purse.
