Approaching Bantry Bay

Main Road Into Bantry

This photograph is of the main road into Bantry, on the West Coast of County Cork in Ireland.

It was taken from my hotel room window and is the opposite side of the Bay from the terraced houses and sculpture that appear in the posts listed below.

The sidings you can see are probably no longer there since they were part of a redevelopment. The gap between them led to an underground car park for the hotel.

It looks pretty over there. I was in Ireland once, in Dublin for slightly over 24 hours. It wasn't enough time to do much more than eat a couple meals and walk around the city.

I spent a weekend in Dublin too once and, to be honest, I was slightly disappointed. It was receiving a lot of hype in those days as a weekend destination which, for me, it didn't live up to. There are other cities I would choose over it and there are a number of places in Ireland I still want to visit.

Beautiful. Seems like I should just leave that as a default comment cause it is always the case...lol

😂 Thank you @empress-eremmy. I've been to some very beautiful places.

Although I have never been there, there's a slightly "barren" beauty to it that also feels very familiar; perhaps because it reminds me of parts of Norway... very green, but largely treeless.

I see what you mean about the "barren" @denmarkguy beauty but I don't think it's treeless. It probably looks that way because of the distance and limited photographic capabilities of my phone. 😁

very good click and kindly information for you i am civil engineer from pakistan.

howdy from Texas gillianpearce! hey don't ya'll have any ugly views over there? Because everything you post is freaking beautiful! You should change it up sometime and see what peoples reactions are.

I bet you dollars to donuts that if you put a crappy, ugly picture on here, if you even have any, you probably don't you'd probably have to go find something ugly somewhere...but anyway put that thing on here and peoples reactions would be exactly the same. oh it's so lovely..and all that nice polite Brit stuff. lol.

but this one really is as normal!

How about this @janton? I made a post about it some time ago. That ugly enough for you? Although it's not a view of course. Pretty gross though. 😂

And, just so you know . . .

peoples reactions would be exactly the same. oh it's so lovely..and all that nice polite Brit stuff.

All the people who've posted here so far are not from Britain. And that's more often than not the case. So bangs go that theory. 😁

Mind you. I totally agree there are some pretty inane comments that get left. Don't know why they bother because there's no way I'm going to upvote them.

I'll keep my eyes open for an ugly view but it's pretty hard to find in a landscape is it not?

You've got me thinking now . . . what constitutes an ugly view?

I took some photographs in Shoreham earlier in the year, not sure if you would have seen them or not, but they were of the industrial port. Some might call them ugly but I liked the architectural nature of them.

Same for my rusty springs. Certainly not pretty in themselves but they were interesting photographs.

I'll be on the look out none the less, even though the task may be a hard one. 😂

ahaha! hey I said that you probably didn't even have any ugly photos anywhere but you did find the one above which I think is super ugly indeed but so ugly that it's beautiful in its' own way!

So I like your question about what constitutes an ugly view?

I'm surprised that alot of Brits aren't following you, maybe not many are on steemit?

hey I love industrial photos especially if there is alot of rust so I think you should do a post on them for sure.

but do you agree that you could post about anything and show a photo of anything and it wouldn't make a difference? the response would be the same? I would try that as an experiment if I was posting 4 or 5 a day like some people can. lol.

thanks so much gillianpearce and keep doing an awesome job!
oh and yes, it's probably hard to find an ugly landscape photo.

but do you agree that you could post about anything and show a photo of anything and it wouldn't make a difference?

I think it's hard to predict what will and won't do well @janton.

Some of the posts I've put hours into researching have earned very little and others that have been really quick to do have earned much more.

Photographs I spend a lot of time on don't seem to make more than ones I put unedited.

ahha! well good evening to you gillianpearce, the reason I'm running this by you is because I've read a couple of posts that contend that it doesn't matter what you post about and I kinda disagree so I wanted your opinion since you have much more experience than I do.

When I get bigger in rep and account size I'll do some drastic experiments and ya'll can laugh at me while I do them! lol. God bless you(and the Queen)
