Islam and New year Eve

Islam can be understood by two ways,conventional and ever changing according to the circumstances. In islam there are so called religious upholders called mulla who do not know the real sense of islam and call this eve a bad convention in islam. In Islam you can celebrate the days of happiness equally with all the human irrespective of their religion. All the festivals in Islam have a basic sense in them that promotes brotherhood and public gathering. These festivals allow Muslims to share their ideas, happiness, happenings, their well wishes and so much more.

So what happens and what we do on new year eve?

We all get at a single platform. We greet each other. We discuss our ideas for new year. We pledge to make ourselves and our nation and country better. We pledge to make a new era of wisdom. We recall our past mistakes, discuss them and then we know how to overcome them in next years.

So now I have a quick question.

Don't we celebrate this eve on the same basic principle of Islamic festivals?
Can't it be valid in ever changing Islamic worldwide nature... Ijtihaad... A sense of modernization in islam.

Mystic Islamic poet Allama Iqbal says

سکون محال ھے قدرت کے کارخانے میں

ثبات ایک تغیّر کو ھے زمانے میں

(Sukoon mahaal hai qudrat ke karkhane main

Sabat aik taghayyur ko hai zamane main)

(There is nothing permanent in this universe except change)

In that context and worldwide nature of islam. Do you think the celebration of new year eve is valid?
