Glimpse from the island Stolmen in Austevoll

in #island6 years ago

Austevoll is one of the most essential fishing municipalities in Norway with a population of about 5,200 inhabitants.
On the island of Stolmen where these pictures are, there are just over 200 people. There are a church and trade in Aarland.
An image of a poster has some information about this island.
Today there is a bridge over to the neighbouring island of Selbjørn. As the pictures show, there is a barren landscape on Stolmen all the way to the North Sea.

This is a very unusual beauty to my eye, but it is very beautiful! Mosses and Lichenes are very rich in color. The stones are very contrasted with this landscape. My view is used to very different landscapes. It seems to me that the people who live there should be, at a minimum, the descendants of the Vikings, for whom such harsh conditions are children's toys.

Thank you, Dear @Siggjo, for the great photos and fascinating story.

I wonder how such small settlements live far from big cities.

You have a right eye for details @Barski
And you have good knowledge of nature and can write about what you see.
Many thanks for the insightful comment on the pictures.
I also think that the people who live here are descendants of the Vikings.

what a special green color! and combination with numerous stones make it look like not hills but the bottom of a sea or a river. Looks like ooze or seaweed, but very nice!

I appreciate your portrayal of what you saw in the pictures @Taliakerch
