I mean that we cannot run from the power and potential of nuclear power or anything new and innovative simply because there are risks but I do believe we jumped into this one too quickly. For example, we don't even know what to do with the waste yet.

well, my guess is that none of the creators of the nuclear reactors cares about what will happen with the waste ... or what happens if the core melts down.
unfortunately the worst happened... at Fukushima.
do you know that they are planning to release almost 1 million liters of radioactive water... to the ocean?
If you advocate for innovative nuclear power, then I think that comes with a responsibility to advocate for ethical decommissioning of all nuclear plants in the US until we test and deploy safe reactors and an ethical waste handling solution.
