On my monthly trip to NYC I get to visit cool places and eat at awesome restaurants. For Italian, I have found a place in Little Italy called Il Cortile, authentic cuisine, friendly service and great location on historic Mulberry street.
You are greeted by gentlemen with a clear old world tongue, the place is beautifully decorated and the bread, oh the bread!
The appetizers, stuffed mushrooms, zucchini frittata, calamari all are amazing! You begin to understand quickly the choice to walk through their door was correct.
Main courses would be a tough choice, baked ziti is my go to dish but open the menu and let your taste buds guide you to your choice.
What I typically do is walk there from midtown and walk back to justify the feast I have.

I recommend it, any day, any time. If you are in New York and downtown try a bite of real Italian food.
