Mateo Retegui, an almost unknown striker to the general Italian public, has made his way first into the national team and now with Gilardino's Genoa. The former Tigre bomber needed less than an hour to make his mark in his debut match against England, scoring the goal of Italian hope. Who is Mateo Retegui? Mateo Retegui is an Italian-Argentine striker born in San Fernando on April 29, 1999. He grew up in the youth sector of Boca Juniors, and made his first team debut on November 17, 2018 in the Primera División match. In January 2022 he moved on a two-year loan to Tigre, where he immediately made his mark scoring 23 goals in total during the season. On July 26, 2023 he was officially acquired by Genoa.
