Retegui, the new Genoa hero: goals and excitement ahead of the Serie A season opener

Mateo Retegui, an almost unknown striker to the general Italian public, has made his way first into the national team and now with Gilardino's Genoa. The former Tigre bomber needed less than an hour to make his mark in his debut match against England, scoring the goal of Italian hope. And the second goal was not long in coming: in his second appearance, against Malta, he came on stage with a devastating header. With Genoa it went even better: on his debut in official matches, in the first round of the Coppa Italia against Modena, Retegui needed 30 seconds to find his first goal in red and blue, then scoring a brace in the match.
