My family and I were turned on to jack fruit when a local coffee shop had "Vegan BBQ" which used jack fruit as its meat like substitute. I had never heard of the jack fruit or its many uses until that time. It seems to be more popular as a meat substitute here in the USA, and if I am correct it is the semi ripe fruit that is used for the purpose. I find it to be similar in texture to artichoke hearts and seem to be prepared much the same way. (In some sort of brine) I would love a chance to get a fresh ripe jack fruit some day. Thanks for the post It was very informative and gives me ideas on how to use the fruit if I can ever get a hold of it.
Tnx
