@socialalpha, I definitely agree with numbers 2 and 3 based on what i have seen and heard. Might I also add the practice of keeping things bottled up inside (which in turn can result to depression, which you also mentioned); masking one's emotions. Here it is like being expressive is a very bad thing and rather than say how one is feeling, society expects you to just fall in line, whether you like it or not.
