This is the kind of thing Voluntary Japan is about.
The sign reads "Aquapark Niigata."
WHAT IS AQUA PARK?
Aqua Park is a swimming facility/water park/public bath located on the outskirts of Niigata City, here in Japan. The facility is unique in that the water for the attractions is heated by a large building next door, which is a giant garbage incineration facility. Some of the energy/power for running the park is also provided by this facility. A Japanese friend told me that this is why the entrance the to the park is so affordable (about 4 USD per adult and 3.50 USD for kids).
The incineration facility.
WHAT'S INSIDE
I was surprised at the luxury of the place. The inside resembles an onsen or hot spring bath facility, with large, comfortable sprawling spaces, massage chairs, vending machines, a café overlooking the park on the first floor, and even an onsen-like bathing facility of it's own, and sauna on the 2nd floor. The colors, motif, and atmosphere are calm and open. And, of course, there is the water park!
The main water park area consists of a small "lazy river," a kids pool with a water slide and "mushroom water fall," a series of several jacuzzis, individual, ergonomically shaped water jet massage areas (for feet, back, etc), an outdoor jacuzzi, and a snack area where you can buy refreshments with the barcode on your wristband (locker room key holder). Sadly, photography within the park itself is prohibited, so if you want to see what it looks like, CHECK HERE!
Isaiah about to mow down on his ボリューム定食, or "volume meal" after our swim. I told him it was too big for him, but he insisted! HAH!
My son and I had a great time here, and even made a friend from the states!
If you would like to learn more about Aquapark Niigata, you can check the homepage hereright here on Steem!, or see the excellent article written by @boxcarblue on the facility

Here in America, we dump the trash directly into the water and then go swimming.
aint that the truth. That seems to be what most countries do these days. We could all go swimming in the Ganges.
Hahahah! Builds immunity!
LOL
I am Cornholio! You will co-operate with my bunghole!
Very eco-friendly indeed.
Thanks for posting :)
Aqua Parks are every time for kids for fun. They just love water :)
Very cool. That is a quite inexpensive fee for entry.
Did I understand you correctly that the food was included, or did I misunderstand, and it is merely linked to your locker, or something?
Looks like it'd take about 4 Isaiahs to eat that much food =p
Haha! Yeah, he put quite a dent in it, though. I was surprised. No, meals are not included. That picture was taken at a restaurant after.
In the article I just meant to point out that one doesn't need to worry about carrying a wallet, as the rubber wristband holding your locker key has a barcode that can be used to charge things to your account, and the bill is settled at the checkout desk.
now thats a cool idea! Hows the smell around the park??
No smell to speak of!
That is a great idea and now I want to make the trip just to go to the water park :) Where I used to live in SW Florida, the garbage was mostly all recycled into power. http://www.leegov.com/solidwaste/facilities/rrf/wte
that's why i love japan
That is an innovative way to use garbage, amazing technology other countries should learn from Japan :) I like the photos too, the park is clean and well maintained
muy buen Post, muy buenas fotos
Saludos desde Ecuador... :)
Seems like a awesome place to check out, will visit when I come to japan. Thanks for sharing!
japan its other planet
It really is.
I'v been to a few of those luxuary swimming pools, though they were probably a bit larger than this one. But those usually costed like 25 bucks an entry, so 4 dollars for a ticket is a really cheap deal (pretty much the same price for a regular swimming pool xD).
So beautiful picture. Thank you for post.
its amazing...
