Japan Photo Blog, Vol. 69 - November in Niigata.

juu-ichi-gatsu. “November.”

November is a neat month. The buzz of the Halloween festivities is over, and the fall is no longer new and exciting, really. Winter will be coming soon. A kind of severe tranquility takes over. The trees lose most of their leaves. The rain becomes almost icy cold. Snow often shows up.

The contrasts of the colors of the bright, bright leaves hanging on ‘til the end, and the wet, deep dark colors of the streets and sky are something to see. I hope you’ll come with me today to check things out.

I’d rather this cold rain be snow, actually.

Here’s to the upcoming holiday season, with lights, family, friends, warmth and cheer, to replace the blazing colors of this fading fall.

Cheers!

Great pictures @kafkanarchy84 you've really captured the brooding essence of this time of year.

really good pictures

wonderful picture

You capture the essence of November, cloudy grey days. I'm also a photographer and I really appreciate your work. Great job!

Is it grey all winter there like back in Indiana? One of the things that amazed me when I moved to tokai 15 years ago and still amazes me is how the sky here is bright blue and often clear all winter. Such a change, and one I'm still not used to.

Yeah, Niigata is pretty cloudy. Sunny and clear all winter sounds great!

Thank you! I used the Prisma app to apply a filter to that photo and liked how it turned out!
