In recent years, tours and visits to Japan have gained greater interest among Indonesians. This is evident from the abundance of the visa queue in Japan. In response, the Embassy of Japan to Indonesia domiciled in Jakarta has represented the application of the Japanese Visa to VFS Global in the form of the Japan Visa Application Center, active as of September 15, 2017 .
With this change, those in the jurisdiction of the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta and interested in applying for a Japanese visa, can no longer apply for visas at the Japanese Embassy, but at the Japanese Visa Submission Center (JVAC). Exceptions to this are in the case of visa-free registration for e-passports that can be done either at the Embassy or in JVAC, the issuance of diplomatic visas and visas and the transfer of visas from the old passport to a new passport that can only be done at the Embassy of Japan and the issuance of a visa relating to humanitarian emergencies.
In addition, some other differences that arise related to this include the longer visa application time in the JVAC, from 9:00 to 17:00 and the time of visa taking at the JVAC is served from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, in addition to the number of visa processing counters in the JVAC will be more than in the Embassy of Japan, which is as many as 15 counters. In the JVAC itself held services such as assistance filling application form, photo booth, and photocopy.
The most significant difference of this new system over the old system is that in the old system in which the submission is made at the Embassy of Japan, the applicant can simply arrive without reservation, with this new system the Japanese visa applicant can reserve the time for the visa application official JVAC, in addition to coming directly to the JVAC office. In this new system, applicants can also check the status of their application via internet and sms service.
Another significant difference is the visa application process will take 5 working days including the day of filing, and takes administrative costs of Rp. 115,000 for visa application, and Rp. 115,000 for visa-free visa application, beyond the visa fee that will be charged if the visa application is accepted. It is important to remember that even though all filing of the filing documents is handled by the JVAC, all decisions regarding the passing of the visa application remain fully with the Japanese Embassy.
This amendment shall apply only to those under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of Japan in Jakarta, so that those in the jurisdiction of the Japanese Consulate General Surabaya, Medan, Denpasar and the Consular Office of Makassar shall keep their Japanese visas in the respective Consular or Consular office . Japan Visa Application center itself is located on the 4th floor of Lotte Shopping Avenue, Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio, Jakarta, and closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Japan embassy holidays, which usually include Indonesian and Japanese national holidays.
